Single plant grow, need design help!

Hey all.

planning to do a 1 plant grow, i was thinking of making a box with dimentions of 1.5' * 1.5' * 3'

Would this be a good size for a Scrog set up? or to small?

Also been looking at lights, found : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dual-300w-Hydroponics-Grow-Light/dp/B008A5YBJ8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
Would this 300w Cfl be good for a single plant in these dimentions?

planning on 2 pc fans, one intake on the bottom left side, and one outtake on the top right side.

Any thoughts?

P.S planning to grow a northen lights.

I think you'd be better off LST with one plant. I can't say on the light. If she starts stretching, you could add another. With such a small space, you not need intake and just let the outake pull. I would worry about it getting too windy in there. BUT, I am a newbie so take my opinion with a grain of salt. What I can say with certainty is to think of it as an experiment. One other thing that might be a problem is with only 18", scrog or lst grows make more horizontal growth, space may be a concern. I have my first lst going and she is getting bushy.

Thank you for the post, Will def think about just having the outake pull, was thinking of haveing a fan on intake for smell tho, got any experiance with this method?
 
that light would be more then enough, maybe even over kill in a box that size but either way your girl will love it. Are you growing a northern lights auto or are you just going to 12/12 from seed? And definately LST your plant, You can use a venetian style pot (which i would suggest because its shorter but yet long so that it still has room for the roots) and then it'll look swagged out.

planning on non auto, a regular

Well my measurements are not set yet, I really want to get the most out of my plant, ( 2nd grow )

was thinking Scrog, simple because they would get more direct light from the CFL.

What dimentions would you recomend for a nicely sized grow box ? one plant at a time?
 
Why are you set on only one plant at a time? I actually just sketched up a design for a dresser i have that Im thinking of turning into a small grow box for 2-3 small plants at a time. Ill post a pic of the set up in a second. It is also a set up for a 1 plant bush grow. the Demensions are: height 54"; Length 34"; Depth 14.75"

Well, because i have read that you want about 50w per sq foot of space, i may be wrong with my calculations. think i was thinking of cubic lol.

would i be right with 3' *3' * 3' would be good with my light? Sorry i dont really understand these measurements lol.
 
Heres the set up. Also you can put another pot in there so you can grow 3 plants

that rule generally applies to HID lights. With cfls you have them a few inches away from the plant so aslong as you can controll the minute amount of heat it puts off (easily controlled) the original size would be fine except the plant would be small

Didn't see this reply till now.

so really i could have the grow box alot shorter since i will have light closer than a HID i take it?

Sorry for the newbie questions, its just i have 1 shot at making this box lol
 
I wouldnt make it any shorter because right now your light is about 5" thick im guessing, the pot will be anywhere from 3-6 inches tall so you would only have like 8-9 inches for plant. I would think your bulb would do just fine in that box aslong as you put a reflector on it and kept it close
