so i only need some if my temps r too high?....which they arnt
Not benefit to higher temps. Much benefit with silica. Add it to water first and mix. Then other nutes. It kills other nutes in more concentrated form. Run 2-3 ml a gallon. Do one plant for two days and look at the difference. Side by side is the only way to tell. After two days you'll add to them all... Or keep a few without and see the difference at the end.

so what accually does it do ?for my plant
you can also use silica as a ph up, always add it to ur water before your nutes.. it actually helps the plant resist disease, drought, and higher temps..however i use it vary rarely as ive never seen any diference wile useing it and always forget to add it to the water first,,so if my ph is to low i add a little to raise ph other than that i rarely use it..ive had a quart of gh silica for 2 years now and still have half a bottle...in my opinion its a waste unless you use it as a ph up,, in that case it works great and maybe it helps the roots as well..

Your plant will grow faster and be healthier. And if your room goes south on you without notice, it will keep your plants alive in lots of different oh fuks. What it does is fills the stem and leaves with water that is bound to the silica. The nutes can flow through faster and get more growth. It barks the stalk faster so bugs can't take hold as fast. Makes thicker roots. Bigger stalks and stems. Very little staking because branches are so strong.

You're in the UK aren't you Bradbury? I just ordered a bunch of dyna gro stuff from a company in Oxfordshire for my....orchids.... Yeah. Orchids.
They had protekt and it wasn't particularly expensive. Certainly cheaper than getting it from over seas.

Dyna dro Protekt is their silica product (npk 0-0--3). As much as I know about it is what I've read above on this thread.

Other than that I've read that silica is the single best thing to add to your regime.

Could be snake oil, but that doesn't seem to be the case. For a fiver s bottle it'd be worth trying a side by side comparison?

I added silica to my queen palms one year. They usually grow about a foot a year. They had been going almost two for me because of the nutes I gave them. Then I added silica. WOW. 5 feet in a year and trunks more then doubled in size. And the pesky yellow on the tips of all palms in the states, gone. Green to the tip of all new leaves..

Yeah I'm with you..I think a lot of people are sleeping on potassium silicates but it seems like one of the most effective tools available to me...I feel like a lot of products are just hype, but in the little experience I've had I have seen first hand the difference silica can make. When I first got Silica Blast from botanicare I was slightly hesitant to use it (I'ma noob n have no idea what I'm doing), so I only tried it on one of my girls to start - not long after that I switched to an HPS bulb (autos started flowering) and my temps shot up quite a bit. Every one of the plants in the tent was showing signs of heat stress besides the one that got the Silica Blast - it looked like nothing ever happened...in fact it looked even better than before. I hit the other girls with some silica and several days (~1 week-ish) later they were back in high gear looking sexy as ever. I don't think I'll grow without it again. I'm noticing thicker stems earlier and a nice sheen look to the leaves that I wasn't getting before the potassium silicate - it might just be placebo but I like to think this shit works miracles.
