Showing signs during veg

Hey everyone I have question for you all. A buddy has some plants that have been vegging since Feb. He thinks the plants are showing signs now. Is it even possible with out changing the light cycle? He says their are pistols coming out, I think its new growth since he's been topping. Thoughts?

Yes these are preflowers, plants show these when they are mature and ready to flower

okay so let me pose this question so is it safe to say that the others are males? or that won't be decided till they flower?
