Should I start flowering? 1st grow ever

My plants are 14 days under 400w hps 24/0. They are platinum og kush growing in 5 gallon pots with fox farm ocean forest. They are about 12-14 inches tall. If they are ready to flower it's about time for me to water with my nutrients should I do my watering with the botanicare kind base and grow or should I just start with the botanicare kind bloom? Sorry if it's a dumb question I am on my very first grow. Thanks for all the help!

Bravo my friend, u really pulled that off nicely.....IMO, not a fan of ocean forest, runs a lil hot to my liking....i always try to use my own organic mix or Happy Frog.....dont let those two look like pistils fool you either, unless they're from feminized seed, those could be male, and if pollen sacks show, def need to be removed, unless ur goal is to breed....personally under a 400w i would let them go an extra 2 weeks to add some beef to them....lollipop them and then throw them into 12/12....but yeah they look good enough to throw into flower.....keep posting im curious to see what u got going there....happy growing

i dont know if im going to get crucified for this or not....lose the botanicare.....go get urself "Nectar for the Gods".......get the advanced items, but also get bloom khaos and tritons trawl, use accordingly and u can thank me later lol

Thanks for the help. They have the crystal hairs on them the picture just doesn't show it very well. We've been doing lots of research and trying to do everything the right way. We decided to start the flowering today I'll put some updates once they progress. We bought them as clones so I'm not sure if the seed was feminized. Thanks again for all the advice

lol right.....if u bought them as clones and there are indeed pistils, then yes they are female, seed doesnt really matter, might want to take some cuttings and clone them girls, keep the cycle a moving brother...keep posting pics, but do as commander said plz lol

I think, to get right to your the question in your subject line, the answer is best determined by an intersection of information: answering these two questions can determine whether you OUGHT to start 12/12. Question 1: how much vertical space do i have? Question 2: are they mature?
to take the second question first, your plants seem to be mature based on the pictures you have posted. the preflower formation is a dead give-away. Since i have no clue of your vertical space, only you will be able to answer that. but be forewarned: a plant can as much as triple in size when flowering. So, if they are 14 inches tall, and you have them under an HPS, then to be safe I'd plan for 54" of overhead (if you want 12" of space from your tops to your light). if soil level is at 16" (top of 5gal container) then you're looking at 70" vertical space. just my 2c.
