Should I pull them inside?

Hi all,

I have a few girls blooming outside right now - they are 6 weeks in. It's starting to get a bit cold around this way (California), and I'm just wondering how long I can leave them outside before it will be too cold? I can bring them inside if needed, but if I can finish them outside I think I may want to do that instead. What do you guys think? It's getting down to 40 degrees at night.

I've heard that they can survive through 30 degrees temps if its not too long?

Of course colder temps are no good for your plants. But - they can cope unless you get frost temps. Even then you might be able to keep them alive with a cover. That will help and if you've really got no other options throw a 100w incandescent bulb under the cover and will keep the temps up. GL

So what I decided to do after all is just pull them inside at night time. I have little 150w light on a timer that comes on for a little bit at sunset and a little at sunrise. During the day I put them back outside. I figure there is just too much good sunlight right now to let go to waste.

I left one outside just to see how it does and to compare to the others in the end. I can let you know in a couple more weeks how everything turned out.

Well, as we can see in the picture below, the one I left outside on cold nights has turned much darker...almost a purple. I'm actually leaving all of them outside right now, even at night, because it's staying warmer than I thought.
