Should I give up?

Ok, I am a first time grower and I think I've already fucked up my plants before they've even sprouted.

The mistakes I think I made:
1. I have been watering a slightly germinated seed for the past three days.
2. I have put them in a germination chamber which I have found is harmful to the seeds
3. I don't think my soil is suitable for cannabis growing.
4. I think I might have caused heat damage to an indoor plant.

Here's what I've done:

I got the idea to grow, and was at my friends house when I saw the perfect germination chamber, a little insulated canister with a pop on/off cap. I asked my friend for it and he gave it to me. This is how I started germination:

1. I stuffed about a half a square of toilet paper and stuffed it in.
2. I doused the paper in water, and let it drain.
3. I just dropped my seeds in and said good luck.
4. I check on them about 2 times a day, and when I do, I drop them out of the chamber.

I planted a seed whose sprout was starting to come out of the side of it, and thinking that I should get it in a pot quick, I planted it and have been watering it for 3 days now.

The soils formula I am using is 0.10-0.08-0.06, I know this is more base than acidic, but is it enough?

My indoor plant, I have done the same germination, and have been watering it for one day. It is litterally about an inch under a 60 watt light bulb, is this bad?

I'm sorry I'm such a complete noob, but I am motivated to keep trying.

Just get on here and read, read, read, read. Soak up some knowledge and then start sprouting some seeds. Do some bag seeds first so you won't be out any money on the high end stuff just to do a test run. Every mistake you make is one that we've probably made and you'll learn from it. Don't give up.

Thanks, I've been trying that, and these are bagseeds. Can you help me with any of my problems though?

The light bulb...60 watt as in house light? Thats 1 huge issue for starters.
post more detail about the light ur using and the space the plant is living in.

Germination using cannabis seeds might be the most simplest part of the grow,
cannabis will start to grow in just about anything.I forgot about a few seeds I had left rolled up in a paper towl inside of a sandwich baggie, even thoe it was bone dry and left for dead, it not only germinated but grew into a ball....I tied to save it, but it was DOA by the time I got to it.
Most of my problems start in a few wks after germination, thats when the fun starts.

Damn Joe, you gotta get rid of that avatar; it's freaking me out, LOL. Actually it reminds me of the Pink Floyd album cover (yeah we had "albums") Relic. We're here to help you Buzzy; that's why we're here (and to learn). Post pix and ask questions and read, read, read.

Buzzy,

You'll need about $400.00 to get started indoors.

If you've got $1,000, you'll have a nice rig - Ozone and everything.

How much cashola are you starting with?

Read the Grow Faq. And then read it over and over again. Ask questions and we will give you answers. Just don't get discouraged. You gotta have patience in this field.

Hank.

hey man new growers always make mistakes! check out my grow! i fucked up so much in the beginning it was ridiculous..and ill probably fuck up even more befor im done..the thing is ill never give up... your new to this mistakes are how you learn. dont get down on yourself just move on and try new shit.. do as much research as you can.. read the entire growfaq on this site and pick out which grow is best for you and start over... buy books, watch growing videos, if this is something your passionate about youll get addicted to growing and befor you know it youll be the one teaching newbies how to grow !! im willing to bet that 90% of people give up after their first grow goes to hell. dont be one of those people or youll regret not having more bud than you know what to do with!!

Relax...and regroup...Not everyone hits a homerun the 1st time at bat. You make mistakes and learn from them...we all do.

If your crop is ruined....start again. Dont give up....It gets easier as you go.

I havent read the responses but Im sure they all say the same thing.

Dont go spending ungodly amounts of money. One step at a time. Equipment is only as good as its user.

That seed that germed and you planted should have sprouted up by now BTW. How's it looking?

!!! You read my mind! It's looking good. The two round leaves have sprouted and I can see the two smaller actual leaves growing. I can't wait, germination phase is almost done! Check my grow journal for pictures.

you dont *need* 400 dollars to get somethin goin, all you need is cfl's, dirt, a fan, fertilizer(later on) and some plastic cups. as it gets older you'll wanna add as much cfl's as you can, but by the time your all said and done with i think its possible to only have 150 in it. granted thats only for a personal stash.

don't get me wrong, if you had $400 bucks, you can get a sweet set up going with mh and hps, top choice soil and fertilizer.

i dont get the 1000 bucks, if your only growin for yourself, and dont need huge amounts, you dont need to get close to 1,000 bucks.

if your using cfls youll end up spending more money in the long run on top of that youll have a crappier yeild and poor quality buds....go hid

i've seen people get not so bad of results with just flouros or cfl, yeah obvously it's no question HID is better, but they do create alot of heat that the begginer has to worry about.

just look at some of the cfl guys on here's grow journals, some of them aint bad at all, and almost even shocking. if i ever had to go cfl, i wouldnt be that upset.
