As one of the people who are PRO trimming/ pruning/ defoliating.....I say don't bother!!!
2 reasons-
Firstly if you want to defoliate, you need to start young and have a plan for the future at different stages.
Doing anything at this stage will only lessen what you have.
Secondly, you're only 6 weeks into flower. If you really really want to defoliate, then you'll want to take off most of the mature fans no sooner than 2 weeks before they finish.
The other way is to selectively defoliate immediately after the initial 12/12 stretch, and again about a week before chop. But that requires planning in early veg and training to put up with the stress, plus a longer veg time to recover. And that's just scratching the surface.
Don't go mad all at once, and if you must, then just take off a few leaves a day at this point, and even then - those leaves need to be looking pretty sorry for them selves for you to do that. It looks good so don't fuck with it!!
So in the short and long of it: No you shouldn't defoliate now. It's too late. You need a plan from the start.
Yes you can defoliate but I wouldn't recommend it at this stage. If you must- A few leaves a day, and I'm talking about the ones that have maxed themselves out and are deteriorating.
You'll find these mostly at the very bottom of the plant and at the very top.
My final thoughts- The only way you'll really learn is by lots of research, and then plucking up the courage to experiment and find what works for you. So many variables.
