Short-term Control of Mites

Any advice on how best to control spider mites while my neem oil is on its way (4-5 days)? I'll be spraying the affected plant with rainwater around lights on/off and trying to squish the buggers but beyond that I'm not sure what I can do.

They've already butchered two fan leaves.

Oh, and for anyone else from the UK who's interested - it's actually illegal to market or sell neem oil (or its main active ingredient, Azadirachta) for use as a pesticide*; hence it's taken me 2 hours to find a decent supplier. I didn't think my plant needed the less regulated neem shampoo or toothpaste, lol...

Try sticking a green bamboo shoot in your pot so that the leaves touch it and make sure the plants being blown around alot. Im trying it now so idk if it works but someone told me to try it. they should be on the shoot and you can wipe them off with a wet paper towel

Well that's interesting IVIars, let us know if it worked please (although it seems a little superstitious to be true :D)

What I ended up doing was spraying with a small amount of natural fatty acid insecticide, which seemed to work somewhat.

Then I misted the f*** out of the plant 3 times a day for 2 days. It's budding quite considerably but mold is no concern 'cause my room's humidity is really low and I was selectively switching to lights-out while she dried. Anyway it worked brilliantly. Neem oil just arrived and I'm glad I didn't use it 'cause it stinks. No way I would've gotten that smell off of my buds.. The fatty acid insecticide though - the smell of that disappeared after the 3rd or 4th water misting.

Added bonus is I was putting small doses of Earth Juice in with my water when misting. The plant actually looks more healthy now than she did before the mites.

if you can purchase some ladybugs go ahead and buy some. Ladybugs really do take care of the problem the only bad thing about it is that after a while they get all over the house if you dont control them...... good luck bro
