Short stuff seeds ......decisions ,decisions....and pic of my setup

Thinking about ordering from Short stuff Seeds ,a rather high than "stoned" strain.Don't care much about yield or taste ,I just need it to be short.I noticed that different sites give out different info about the high and the size of ShortStuff strains. What were your actual experiences with SStuff?

Here is a pic of my setup ,I have about 14 inches between pot(about 1 gal) and 150w cfl.
Pc fan at the top ,it has kept temps well enough in check ,although not optimal.
I only grew the Betty Boo from JD so far in this setup ,but I would like to try something else for a change.

I know about the "foot per gallon " rule of thumb ,but after having seen 3-foot tall plants in 1 gal pots ,I need to ask actual growers.

Don't care much about yield or taste ,though I would prefer a "higher' rather than "stony" strain.Any suggestions?

Personally I'd stay away from short stuff. I've heard they are having issues.. I got a 5 pack of Russian rocket fuel from them and only got one decent plant.

A friend suggested it would be better to choose a photo strain and go directly 12/12 from seed .Given my pot size ,roughly 1g ,plant would stay as short as an auto ,and maybe yield a bit more if I do things right.
Not to mention power saving .......what do you guys think?

What up Meenigrow! I'm a fan of shortstuff seeds. I even have 5 of them growing right now (it's a bit of a weird grow though). I've ordered from them a couple of times, ordering multiple strains each time. I personally have never had a problem with their seeds. I don't germ them either, just pop them in soil and water and they always pop up about five days later. I have actually only once had a seed not sprout. Your set up looks perfect for an auto and also perfect for a U.F.O. light if you can get one.

I say go with an auto because it will be done much quicker (you get your bud faster). Also, autos use less ferts than photo ones do so it will cost less on that note. I think you should be good, height wise, with a one gallon pot. and not feeding it too much. if she starts to get too tall you can always train her down.

if you found the right strain it would work ....... problem with 12/12 FS is alot of strains still have a short veg period ive had more then a few run 1-1.5 months before they flipped ( sativa's and sativa dom hazes mostly ) some indica's will jump right into flower .... check out cum laude from positronics not real stable from what ive heard ( never grown it ) read a few posts and they are supposed to be fast

When I first learned about growing ,it was like 8-9 years ago.I had a bigger space and only did photos ,since autos were "the new hype" ,and many contradictory opinions revolved around them.

There weren't as near as much strains ,seedbanks ,crosses ,as nowadays......my head hurts every time I browse some related site :)

Had a pause until 2 years ago, meanwhile I had changed location ,and forgot almost everything about growing.Last year I grew Betty Boo from JD in the pictured setup.....,then I got into planted aquariums ,which I still enjoy maintaining.
Want to get back in the pot game for a third time ,but I feel overwhelmed with choices ,I browse sites and forums till my eyes hurt:)

@Chuckonit - Could you please elaborate more about those SS strains ,names ,l pot size vs height?I never done LST so far ,because I never had to.
Being a clumsy person in general ,diminishes my confidence.

@tekdc911 - I wouldn't dream to even mention the word "haze" ,or "sativa" around that small a space :) thanx for the suggestion though !

that plant was in a 3 x 4 :D

have you thought about a vertical scrog ? with 2 plants in a tub ....... could use a tomato cage cut on one side and stretched out for the scrog ..... if it was attached to the pot you could take it out in one piece to manage the plants ...... it would be easier then trying to do it in place

If you start it in a party cup and transplant at 2-3 weeks , it should stunt it enough that it wont get very big ..... i would just torture a few plants till i figured out how to keep em small

There's definitely going to be some "torturing" ,until I figure things out lol.....I just remembered that a friend should still have some NL x Big Bud .......
Although this may seem sacrilegious to many of you ,torturing and experimenting with such a wonderful strain ,I have to say ,that the beans are pretty old ,about 4 years ,don't even know if they still got life left in them.As soon as he gets back in town I 'll pay him a visit....

When browsing for seeds online ,I often see big differences in heights ,like for ex......-Dinafem RoadRunner........from 20cm up to 70 cm tall indoor- ........what does this mean?Does it refer to the phenotype of the plant (indica or sativa- like)? .....or as in "20 cm in the smallest of pots and max 70 cm in larger pots?"

In the end ,should I choose a strain which is stated up to 60-70 cm in height ,and hope that my 1gal pot will "torture" it enough as to stay 30-40 cm only?
