get an auto flowering strain, or just grow a normal strain 12/12 from seed.

My NL is indoors in hydro. I veg for 2 weeks and go to 12/12 with hps.
I have grown dwarfs but the yield is so low it is hardly worth it. I've also tried strains like LSD and gotten plants 5 - 6 feet.
The NL is a compromise on size, works well for my setup and I get good yields. I have a 15 inch cola on a 30 inch plant right now.

Barneys farm, violator kush. 60cm tall but very bushy at 60cm wide, nodes less than a cm apart. Predictable, forgiving of temps and EC and clones easily. Put mine through hell and still almost made a g/w. Only problem is price (expensive) and odour control. It effin stinks. Also not a smooth smoke. More of a lung-buster.
Best bet for keeping height down though is scrogging.
