this is only my second grow in dwc,the first was not too bad a few glitches but got there in the end.

my question is i refilled my res and the new water the the roots went into was really cold could this be shock as the leaves have started drooping a little?

I use soil and when I water with cold water the leaves do droop a bit for a couple hours so I would say yes. I find lukewarm water works best.

thanks lordemo...i was just panicking a little,,i used to grow in soil too,,just trying this dwc out. i am at week three of flower so i'd hate anything to go wrong now.
hopefully just shock then.

You should let your water stand out to warm up to room temperature. You can always add a small aquarium heater to raise it before changing your reservoir. You don't want to shock the roots anything below 60 F is not great for the roots and shock could set in

How you finding Hydro? I kind of never want to leave soil lol.

slightly better results mate, cheaper than buying good soil every time, but a lot more easy to fuck things up...on my first grow in hydro i had 2 in hydro and one in soil as a back up.

what happens when shock sets in,because i think it has pretty badly,,,,all the leaves a drooping now...is it gonna die?

Chances are, it wont die, but in future i would try to warm the water up to around the same temp as the water your replacing,

This eliminates the need for the plants to go into shock.

Hope this helps,

Happy growing!

yeah it helps,cheers.

does anyone know how long the shock can last..thats been around 14 hours with the leaves drooping.?
