Shackzilla changed from Indica leaning to Sativa looking, weird

This Shackzilla from Sannies sprouted on October 19. It started out in a passive wicking mini-hydro system. At the time it was obviously Indica-leaning, showing fat leaves, no spacing between nodes and just short and fat as could be. She was doing fine for quite a few weeks until one day she fell ill. For some reason she just slumped over and looked on the verge of death. I was concerned I was going to lose her so I yanked it and transplanted to dirt. After a week or two she was still looking pretty sad. I chalked it up to another experiment gone wrong so I just started screwing around with her to see how much torture she could take. After a couple good doses of some synthetic hormones, some pinching, some squeezing and general abuse, she finally lost all her leaves. It actually happened almost overnight. I came home to find perfectly green leaves had fallen off the plant to the point of looking like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I put the whole damn thing aside, planter and all and ignored it (rather disgusted I might add). A week later I noticed a few new sprouts shooting out from between old leaf nodes. I stuck it back under the light and to my surprise, she started drinking a ton of water and shooting leaves everywhere. Fast forward to today: this plant has made a total and complete turnaround. Now, the leaves are long and somewhat skinny with curved tips, the nodes are well spaced and she stretched like crazy under the 12/12 lighting. I can't get over how Sativa-looking it has become. The stalk on this thing is huge and it continues to drink water at the rate of 500ml or more a day. She's now about two weeks into flower and looking stellar. I may just end up with a baggie full off this little jewel.
If nothing else, it points out how tough cannabis can be. I literally tried to kill this thing with evil experiments and she refused to give up. Just thought I would share.
The first three pics are the plant in it's original hydro system, the rest show her current state.

My grape god had that type of effect. Big fat indica leaves in veg and super skinny longer leaves in flower.

Didnt stretch more than 1/2 its height and yielded well.

Any yield at this point is welcome! I abandoned this plant and hadn't planned on seeing a single bud but now, I'm treating her like a Queen.

The least expected always surprise you the most. Make sure to take a clone before its too late. haha

Thats how my grape god was. bought one seed with my order a 10pk of other seeds. just so it could be a head stash thing.

I ended up runnin it for about a year and loved every minute of it.

I actually did take a clone just before I put her in flower. It's slowly showing signs of life, it wasn't a very fast rooter.

That always sucks! Ive gotten it down to where most strains are throwin roots out of the rapid rooter in a week and ready to transplant around day 10.

I'm new to the indoor growing world. I've always grown outdoors until this year. Cloning is something I don't have a grip on yet. I hear people tell me how easy it is but I've had 5 fail in the last month. I've used a couple techniques that are supposed to be rock solid but something missing. I have not tried rapid rooters yet, might be my next step.

try jiffy pellets. Take a clone, cut the middle about an inch. Scrap the outside with a razor so it leaves little tiny scrathes. Put this in the jiffy pellet. Set it in a bowl and over with plastic. Just a 23 watt cfl works and wont burn it. Open the plastic one a day. You a do away with the plasti if you dont mind misting it sometimes.

You an also try the set it and forget it method.cut it and just stick it in a vase by a light. It will grow roots if there is water. Maker sure there arent too many leaves. You only need prob 2 leaves.Even then you an cut those in half also.

jiffy pellets are the shit!! I have gone thru 160 since jan 1st and only lost 2-4 cuts. And there cuts off 30+ strains. I use e-z-clone gel and a nice humidity dome, but same idea.

Damn it! I've tried these methods and failed. I was told how easy it was to put them in a glass of water by the window and forget it. That didn't work. I've tried scraping the last 1/2 inch of the stalk and dipping in rooting powder, that just caused the last half of the stem to rot and die. So far, the only method that seems to be working (as of right now) is a peat pellet with a little rooting hormone, a clear plastic cup over the pellet sitting on a heat mat. I took all the leaves off except for a couple small sprouts from the top. This clone has stayed alive longer than any others I've tried. Keep in mind, I'm only doing one or two at a time because I typically only grow one or two plants at a time. I'm not going to loose sleep over a couple dead clones. If I were involved in a serious grow operation I would be forced to figure this out but honestly, I just haven't given it enough attention. Thanks for the great tips guys, I appreciate you guys taking time to help a brother out.

you should keep the water they are in fresh. It usually wont rot if its fresh.

You should make more clones at a time and just kill the ones that take but you dont need. Will drastically get rid of your frustration this way.

Heat matt is a great idea also liek you tried. The pellets work good because it gives the roots a little environment. Will also have much less transplant shock when you move up to bigger pots.

Thought I would post up a couple new pics from the fourth week of flower. This plant is showing signs of maturity and is really spitting out the flowers now. It seemed like forever before she even showed the flowers and then it just took off. Don't see a lot of trich production yet but it's still a little early. Looks like I should end up with a couple good sized buds off this little plant.
