That slime is the bacterial growth I mentioned. You should be fine if you can keep thems down and the light out. Also, next time you completly clean your res just try am weak bleach solution in a spray then after cleaning rinse with tap water and give that a try.

What oxygen don't kill, chlorine will.

And yes, do not forget to clean it out. Bleach is not great for your plants either. I know there are some that will freak when I said to use the bleack, but it does work at killing the nasties...

I have a layer of reflective tape on the top of the res, but it may not be keeping enough light out... since I am running that 600watt HID.

I havnt tried the bleach yet... I am a little leery of using that chem on my babies. I have heard bad things.

If I keep having the slime problem, I will first: add another layer of tape to top of res for light penetration. And, if that doesnt work, then may try the bleach at res change.

I do have a bottle of sm-90 and hydrozyme. I havnt been using either of them. Would of of those help with the slime problem? If so, how should I apply?

Pics and update coming...

Did you get your problems resolved?

Thanks for asking...

This evening I performed a res change. I wiped and scraped the accumulated slime off the inside of the res with papertowels soaked in hydrogen peroxide. Seems to clean it off real well. I rinsed the pump, air stones, airlines, and feeder tubes. I also added the 1/4 teaspoon of the hydrogen peroxide and let the pump run 10 min before the res change.

I have switched from the SH nutes and pH down to GH liquid nutes and GH liquid down. Maybe it will help me contol my pH problems more...

Roseman- I have not yet put the charcoal in the nylon sock in the res yet. I am hesitant to do this... I know you wouldnt lead me wrong, but it seems a little iffy. I will try it if my pH doesnt stable after this res change.

I got a new hanna digi pH meter for my res change bucket. RO water from my tap>filter + the GH grow and micro per the schedule on the bottle was giving me a reading of 5.5 on my hanna meter. Lucky me... no pH down needed tonight.:weed:

Surpisingly my babies have grown just a little since last update or posting start. I say it's surpising because the average pH level for the res has been above 7 for the past week or so.... And two of them are looking good  Happy day :hump:

Something interesting.... well, interesting to me because I dont know why its happening...

My cool tube with 600watt HPS is about at it's maximum height from my res, and had been like that since the babies poked out the RR and I turn the lights on. Interesting part: I can't see that my babies are stretching at all.... I may be wrong, but they dont appear to be long and stringy.

Anyone who knows care to chime in?

Its a good thing, means they're getting all the light they need from where the light is...

UPDATE 08/16/09

- I don't see foam in my res anymore and there isn't really a smell, so that is great! I did not add a layer of tape to the top of the res, but I have made sure the res temps are not over 75degrees.

- My pH hasn't been skyrocketing like before, so that is good too. I pH'd res to 5.3 at last change, and today before change the pH is 6.4, so only a .9 change over 7 days.

- I have switched out the 4" fan and filter for a 6" fan and filter. A 185 cfm to +400cfm change, respectively. A ran speed control module was added, so the sides of my tent dont fold in... :leaf:

- I changed the exhaust duct from 4" flexiduct to 6" high R value insulated duct. I am hoping the insulated will carry the heat from the room better than the flexiduct. An added bonus is there is now no noise from exaust or fan outside of the room. :-P No more telling house guests that what they heard while walking down that hall was a dehumidifier.

- My babies look like they are gonna survive, and may even do well. Well...... 2 out of 3 look good :weed:

UPDATE 12/16/09

Harvested. Pulled 3/4lb from my 2 babies. When they were chopped, they filled the entire tent. Huge Christmas tree plants.

Dried. Zero mold.

Cured. It has all cured now. Very mellow smooth smoke. No crackling. Even burning. When rolled into a joint with the appropriate density, burns evenly and exactly like a cigarette.

Potency. Holy shit!! This by far the best, most powerful bud I have ever smoked, vaped, and consumed. And I have been to Amsterdam and spent some time in Humboldt.

Senses. This is the most beautiful bud I have ever gotten my hands on. Yea, yea, pretty pictures in the Cannabis Bible, but those are just pictures. This Auroa Indica looks like a work of art. Stunning green, and the orange, omg. The orange looks just like a pumpkin. It's color was very fitting, seeing as it was harvested on halloween.
When broken up to smoke, it feels like you put glue on your fingers. And the smell!! Jebus, the smell is intoxicating in itself. Rich bouquet of fruity skunk. The smell is wonderful.

I am VERY pleased with my 1st grow. Chalk up the setbacks to the learning curve. With the knowledge I have now, I expect at least 1lb from just 2 plants, and a shortened growth cycle. Custom design. [HPS ScrOG w/ 5gal bucket(s) recurculating DWC]

My only problem is keeping the merchants and vulchers away from my dwindling reserves. Need enough to see me through till next harvest. Cause I NEVER want to have to buy it or deal with shady people ever again!! :finger:
