Yo peeps,

Thanks to everyone for their help so far (plants growing sideways thread).

Right, basically have gone out at bought some tubes, got 2 tubes, but unfortunately they don't fit into the cupboard properly, anyway, here is some pics to explain...

I know the big tube is at an angel, and on one side but it can't fit any other way! Any advise for me? Plants ain't looking too healthy, think it was the lack of light?

you either need

1 new lights
2 you need to move that so its near enough touching each one of those plants and then be able to move it with the plant as it grows

Non green is exactly right. with the size of growing area you have those lights are only going to be used verically. this is going to give you nice side light as your plants grow. and you need to get some other lighting fixture you can mount and move horizontally.
Some others have bought bathroom fixtures for over a medicine cabinet, some as many as five light sockets. If you look at some of those it will give you some ideas. The cfl's, available in different wattages from Lowes Menards etc. will screw right in.
Using flourescent is a great idea if you can get the light close enough to the plant, I'm sure you are finding this out.

OK, I will move the lights so they are almost touching the plants. I cannot get any more lights for the moment, I am a student and just spent anova £40 on these lights and other things!

Should I use foil in my setup? Was told not to before.
I am currently having 6 hours of no light, the rest of the time the lights are on, is that ok?

Also, I read that I need to put the plants in 12 hours of light, then 12 hours of darkness to flower them in order to see if they are male or female, should I do this yet?

Anything I should watch for?

Man!
I Remember when i first started growing inside... I Fucked up big time with lights like those (they were blacklights... LOL)

Anyway... Mount those lights on the side of the wall, Put the plant under it and block it off with Mylar or something of the sort (Alluminum Foil..) Put alot of this around, tape it to where the light stays inside that barrier

That should help them out with a little bit of the light...

Skunk ...

Here's what you need:

And one of these:

If you can't afford this equipment now, then my advise would be to forget growing until you can. Don't mean to disappoint you, but with what you're using, you won't have a successful grow. See how much space is between the internodes on your plants? That's because of lack of light.

Your 18/6 during vegging and 12/12 during flowering is correct. Also, instead of using "foil," just paint the inside walls with a good, FLAT, white paint. Good luck ...

Surely I will at least get some yield from the plants even with this setup? I can't afford to spend any more money, the seeds were a birthday present from friends so we kinda just jumped straight in.

I have only had the new lights I bought on for 12 or so hours as they are new, is there any saving the plants now?

You could try putting the plants on something to put them closer to the lights. Boxes, books your not using, blocks of wood.

You could also use the inside of a coke can. Cheap, easy and works. Here's a pic. Use that inconjunction with the rest........:joint:

Ive moved the lights so they are almost touching the plants, and I will put coke cans around to reflect the light. Is air circulation really important? I think I need a fan! Im not expecting amazing results, just want to grow some of my own bud

Cheers for ur help,
