Can i just buy a bag of Miracle Grow and some perlite and make it like 70%soil and 30%perlite? is that good? and something else. I heard Miracle Grow comes with ferts already in it. I dont need to add ferts till like 2 1/2 weeks from seedling right? Please help<3

I'll share my MG recipe that I know works well. Its Miracle Grow "Expand N Grow" (I can't speak of the other MG products). Expands to about 3 times its dry weight when mixed with equal parts water. I mixed that with around 30% vermiculite (perlite will do same), wet through thoroughly, mix again. Distribute it to your grow pots. Voila. Ready for growing. They don't mention the details of the fertiliser content etc on the bag, but they claim it'll feed plants for the first 6 months (or to us, more than a complete cycle). Some would call that hot soil. Its fine, as long as you don't also pack in all sorts of unnecessaries thinking it'll make it better. Its not that the soil is particularly hot, the reason it can feed for that length of time is they have slow release balls in it which break down over time, so its not like you're getting the full whack persistantly.

Although my honest experiences, its a great base soil medium. From seedlings, through to flower I've had pretty much zero nute problems, and throughout their life they get mainly plain water, although sometimes I make a tea of nutrients which I feed them from time to time while watering. Very gentle, very mildly. The soil is also very light, and distributes water very easily. My logic is 'gentle amounts of all' applied from time to time, for the vast majority of time they just get water. My plants are happy with it, and thats what matters.

Oh sure people will recommend this fancy brand, or this lEEt pro product range etc, but for the most case they're not needed, no wonder so many people have nute problems when they're packing so much strength and all sorts of 'stimulates' this and that. Fancy nutes may be necessary for hydro, but if you're going for a soil grow, start with a sound base and without unnecessary stuff.

Tweak/customise as you desire etc.

I like organic mix in ferts in the soil and water.. working good so far.. but as you can see I'm just learning how to roll. MJ is strong and doesn't get her feelings hurt too bad too easy.. I think that's why I love her
