Self Topped SSH

This is a "self-topped" plant. No training or pruning was done to get multiple colas and numerous side branches. Has anyone seen this trait be carried on to clones? I'm surprised this hasn't been breed into the strains.

According to Greg Green in his book "The Cannabis Breeder's Bible" this is called auto-topping, a mutation caused by chromosome modification. This is not a common mutation so it's probably rarely seen. I will start some clones to determine whether this passes on to them or was the mutation perhaps caused by environment. The plant had to endure a harsh cold spell.

Recently had this happen with a Deep Purple seed, it looked sick as hell when it popped but I let it go and it is like this self topped, I have photos of it at just 3 weeks old not uploaded yet though.

I believe you, I've only had clones do this to me, it usually starts right after theyy root... they grow numerous small side branches (tiny), looking all crazy, then a few days later the side branches start shooting up like crazy, very quickly growing taller than the top, only the top remains there so they are very obviously "self-topped." I'm not big on topping though, I usually only top mother plants. I like LST and HST techniques though, you can do amazing things with a little string (or a little branch-pinching.)

It wasn't suppose to be a trait of the strain, at first I thought I'd accidentally hit em with an alcohol spray bottle instead of water but later clones did the same thing in a controlled environment. A few of my clones have "self-topped", I quit worrying about why they do it because they were going outside anyways and they turned out around the same yield as the taller ones. I don't know about this trait you speak of but clones do it too, I know for sure.
