seeds never sprouted

this is the first time iv had this problem and just wondering what seems more logical of why this may of happen. growing with fox farms ocean forest never had a problem with it before so i dont think its my soil but i did get a new light for this grow before i had a 400watt hps grow light this time i was growing more so i upgraded and got my self a 1,000watt hps grow light all seeds germanized just fine was only 1 seeds that didnt germanize. normally the most iv waited to see them sprout was about a day and a half or 2. i gave these seeds 12 days and nothing, and iv read some take up to 20 days but i had 20 seeds and there were 4 different strains and none of them sprouted... im thinking because of heat stress because it was hot from the new light but stupid me thought nothing of it at the time... or maybe the light in general is to much watts for seedlings maybe i should start off with something with less watts i was reading about these T5 lights maybe use those just to start??? i just dont want a problem like this to happen again... any suggestions or idea of how this could of happen or what you guys use for your seedlings and what always works, like i said iv only grown with a 400watt light and then switching to 1,000watts and then this happen... :/

I don't have a definite answer but I can tell you that the lights were probably the contributing factor if that is the only change you have made. If this can help I germinate by soaking the seeds in 5.9 ph'd water with a drop of superthrive in it over night and then drop em in a root riot cube that has been soaked in the same mentioned solution. I keep em in total darkness for the next 24 hrs and then put em under a cfl. I have neary 100% germ rates and the few that never popped I figure were just bad seeds.
