Seeds germinating but not gronwing, please help!

Hi, this is my first post so I apologize if I don't follow protocol. I bought some seeds from the UK and Holland and decided to follow an advice that I read in a specialized magazine and placed the seeds in refrigerator to preserve them. The way I did it: place a bit of rice in a plastic film container (black), poured the seeds on top of them, and stored them in a larger plastic container. After a couple of month, when I tried to grow a new plant, the seeds grew a tap root but when planted they just don't grow or grow the stem but no leaves and then they die. I plant them about 5mm in the medium (vermiculite or peat moss) and that's it. The way I specifically germinate the plant is by soaking them 2 days in warm tap water with a dash of peroxyde water in a glass and then I plant them. The system worked fine before placing the seeds in the mini fridge. I use CLFs, 6400 k for vegetative and 2700 k for flowering, final total of lights=6. I just wonder if placing them directly on top of the rice damaged them or if a different treatment should be given to seeds places in fridge since they go dormant. Unfortunatelly, the article that I read ends with placing them in the fridge, it does not give any specific advice about what to do to germinate seeds after. I have found that many articles and advices only provide partial advice and leave you with more questions that answers :eyesmoke:. I thank you for any advice that you can provide. I just hope that I didn't lose all my seeds. :-?

It sounds like a problem with the seeds to me, to be honest. Try a different germ technique, possibly straight into soil. I've heard of refrigerating seeds, but never do it just because of the nature of the cannabis plant. Its evolutionary history is mostly equatorial, so seeds would rarely be exposed to 30 degree temps. Mostly, and rarely, of course. There are numerous exceptions.

Thank you so much for your answer. I agree with you, everything points to the seeds. Just remember that there are plants that grow in the northern hemisphere and they do go through very cold weather (Canada is one example).

I have tried several methods with same results, soak seed for 2 days in warm tap water with peroxyde water (added oxygen)tap root grows, is planted in medium (vermiculite, peat moss, jiffy pellets, directly into the ground) and everything has failed.

I understand what you say about nature, but since the seedbank themselves adviced the method, I just didn't see the problem.

It all goes back to the main question, do seeds get damaged by doing what I did, placing them directly on the rice or should they have been kept in the original package?

I have one seed now that I planted in a jiffy pellet. Soaked it in glass of water for 2 days, grew tap root, planted in pellet, covered pellet for total darkness and placed it on top of router (for warmth), and left undisturbed for two days. It grew out of ground (peat moss) and shed the shell. However, no leaves, just the stem and a white ball that looks kind of ugly (lol). The new seedling is now under a 6400 k CFL lamp in the hope that it will trigger some genetic code that is dormant and start developing the plant.

This is the article that I was talking about (not very long) http://www.amsterdammarijuanaseedba...ijuana-seeds-info/marijuana-seed-storage.html

By reading the article, I might have screwed up by placing them directly on the rice and not storing them in the plastic bag they came in. I just don't know if it is irreversible :wall:. As you can see in the article, they don't say anything about what would happen if you place them directly in the rice. If it is critical, you would think they would be very specific about it:?:. I placed seeds back in mini plastic ziploc to see if that will help.

The seed that I am currently trying to grow is a Ganja Dwarf Lowryder since it is an auto plant and does not really care about light schedule. It just follows its own genetic coding no matter what. So, a very easy plant. http://www.amsterdammarijuanaseedbank.com/seedshop/strains/ganja_dwarf_lowryder_feminized.html

I will figure out how to post a picture tomorrow and upload it.

looks way too wet, let it dry out on the top of the soil a little and it will grow as the roots reach down in the soil for moisture
