Seeds from bought bags?

Can i use seeds from bud that i've smoked? Ive collected about 50 seeds over the past few months and am interested in trying to grow them but am not sure if it will work. Are they the same as the seeds they'd send me if i ordered them from somewhere?

The seeds you order are good strains that make better bud :) But you can pant those seeds and they will grow
 
Yeah give it a shot. The only difference is the genetics are probably better if you buy then online. Good luck, with 50 seeds your bound to get some nice females.
 
Did you enjoy smokin the bud that the seeds came from,if so thats what you'll get if you use them to grow from.
 
i say give it a shot but you could come up with a bunch of hermaphrodites. Cant really trust the seeds you collect in bags. but if you have nothing to loose go for it
 
So i planted my seeds a little while after i posted the first time, along with a few other flowers and i already have 5 MJ seedlings and am super excited to see what happens!!
 
Ive planted mids and gotten good results, as long as you can keep males out youll grow some good sinsimilla ( seedless) bud. the stuff ive grown from mids turned out better than alot of the good weed available to me.

WRONG!! Generally seeds you get from a bag are NOT going to be exactly the same as the bud, and you tend to get more males and hermies. But outa 50 seeds you should get a few nice females. Once you establish your best females, just clone em and you have guaranteed females.
 
i'm day 4 into flowering 20 'baggie' plants all from baggie seed. So the strains are all unknown if there is even a pure strain in the batch. I used different seeds collected for 2 yrs. just pick out the big, shiny, dark, striped or spotted ones. the light green or white ones are too young and will not germinateso, yeah, they grow, just don;t know exactly what i'm growing just yet. lol but it's weed and for me that's all that matters:mrgreen:
 
So basically, im gonna have to mature my plants and then kill off my males (as a female, thats strangely empowering lol) that way my females wont seed. That actually makes sense to me!

Now, if im keeping my plants indoors, is lighting going to be an issue? They'll be in a room with windows, not like a closet or anything, but will it make a huge difference? If so, whats my best option on lighting for only a few plants?
 
for just a few plants, get the cfl's they are the most efficient for the space you have and moneywise they are ok. i made the dumbass mistake of using the big (4 foot) fluorescent fixtures these things are underlit for flowering as I;'m finding out (I'm into my 5th day of flower), oh well, but the cfl's are more efficient, smaller, produce way more lumens. are you tabletop or floor? what kind of fan are you using? stealth or in the open? all these come into play before you purchase anything, check your space, what can you fit? intake. exhaust?
window light will not do it, you need a minimum of 50w per plant/ 75w is better. the lights should be close to your plants. if you can stick your hand between the plants and your light asnd it's not too hot, then it's ok foryour plants. for fl's they should be no more than 2" from your plant tops. take a lookie at my posted pics, see how close they are to the lights? get a fan to blow across the plants to promote sturdier stem growth (you are replicating mother nature with her breezes) keep them warm 80-85 with lights on 65-70 light off. don't overwater and no fertz for the first two weeks after germinating or transplanting (they are shocked and need time to adjust to their new surroundings)

Nice recycling with the milk jugs! Anyway, they'll be on a shelf in my closet, which does have a window. I was unaware i needed a fan but i always have one running in my room to keep the dog from barking so thats not a problem. I suppose my plants wont be stealth. they're germinating in the bathroom and my parents know they're there lol. So they'll know that im moving them to my room when they disappear from the bathroom.

What fertz are good to use? Im aware i need plenty of nitrogen and potash? truth?
 
it's a good idea to have one actually blowing on the plants (you are trying to replicate mother nature) a breeze on the leaves actually makes the stems grow thicker/sturdier,and keeps bugs at bay. even a small oscillating desktop fan will work for just a few plants. I use a box fan but mine are in the floor. it keeps the soil drier too. lights should be about 50w per plant at least, better yet, try for 75w per/plant. keep the lights as close as you can. for cfl's no more than 2" from plant tops. for hid's about 12". Closer if your fan keeps it cool enough. stick your hand between your light and your plants. if it's too hot for your hand, then it's bad for your plants. nutes should be for seedlings (nothing for3 weeks), something high in nitrogen, phosphate, potash. Stay away from timed release anything (tablets, and sticks). don't use pee for fertz (don't ask, it works; high in nitro, just smells BAD)'weed' out your males (sounds sexist I know) and bring nothing but sweet tender love to your females, and they'll return the favor!:mrgreen:
 
Awesome, I can easily move the fan that i have, its not a box fan, but similar. Its only around for the sound cuz otherwise my dog will bark at every little rustle.

Also, what is Nutes? Nutrients? is there anything that has Nitrogen, phosphate and potash?

And no worries, i wouldnt use pee haha!
 
on the box. when the box or bottle reads 10-15-10 that is nitrogen-phosphate-potash levels in ppm (parts per million) Most plant foods have all three of these. 'Miracle gro' and'schultz plant food plus' are the two I use. But there are literally thousands and everybody on here will tell you that theirs is the best. buywhat you can afford. use high phosphate potassium for vegging, high nitro for flowering "Bloom" plant food works good too.I use Miracle gro. It's cheap and all I can get in my area in the winter. But, if you are in legal weed area like BC or UK then you can go buy it at local weed shops. otherwise just peruse the local gardening centers for plant food and start to read boxes.
 
Well, boo for me, im not in a place where bud is legal so miracle grow it is! lol. but about the lights. You said i needed about 75 watts/plant using a CFL bulb. No problem...except that i can only find 11 watt bulbs. will i really need that many bulbs or are they differently equivalent? Because some places had 11 watt (75 watt eq) so does that mean that they are 75 watt? then id only need 5 or so of those
 
Just to add... you want too look for food that has a high (N)...not a high (P) or (K) during your vegging stage. When you go to flowering stage you will want lower (N)...higher (P) & (K).

For a refrence...look for something like 20-5-5 or 25-10-10 for your veg stage...and something like 5-20-15 for flowering.
