I have some seeds that have sprouted thru the rockwool now, not all but some. My questions is.... do I put them under 400 watt flourescent or not. One place said yes the other said no, they are to fragile. My husband put one under it and it turned brown and I think died right away. What should I do with them? Also, is it possible to get the seeds to warm as they sprout.

23-watt fluoro is suggested for each plant. Yes if cubes get too warm it can kill roots. Light is needed directly only after they are old enough and sturdy enough to tolerate it. Get a fan going near them also.

Keep those babies under a low watt cfl. Too high of a wattage will fry them. Give them some time to get stronger, then make the jump to hyperspace!!!

You can use the 400. But it's gonna have to be far away from them. Also, I hope you have tape, or something on top of the cube for around the seedlings? Direct light on the stem will F it up. Make sure the cube stay nice and wet

Try the window it works great for about 2weeks of new growth. I do that with all of mine before they go under the lights, Cheap and easy.
