Seedlings

These are my new seedlings that just broke surface last night. I got one Alquimista and the rest are Critical Mass. I just wanted to drop a post for any tips or anything you guys find relevant. I decided to give each one a extremely light nutrient watering(about 300ppm) Of a root enhancer and sugar daddy. Ive read alot of controversy about nutrients and seedlings i just figured such a very slight nut solution couldn't do much harm :) Anyway just wanted to share and pray for some good karma! :leaf:

hell ya lookin beueno. now jus keep them alive, lol. make sure they dont get dried out or theyll fall over but dont water them to much or theyll damp off, with the rock cubes i jus get em pretty wet and then do a sort of gravity motion with them in my hand and let the excess water fall out. also they dont really need any nutes for the first couple weeks of growth, the minerals in the tap water are enough food for them. good luck my friend!!

yeah i use a dechlorinator and filter everything out of my water... the only thing i have to do is lower the PH of my water really(8.6 to 5.7) yeah my ph is naturally stupid high so i have to really pay attention to it... i wont drink my tap water.. im sure as hell not giving it to my babys :)

Just gunna update with some new pictures at the 2 week mark since popping.2011-10-23 19.59.44.jpg2011-10-23 20.00.03.jpg

Yeah its my first grow... but i decided to really invest since im a legal grow and dont have to really be stealthy about it. But im also a bio major in college so i have a pretty good understanding of how plants work, as my first 2 years of college were spent just learning about the biology and mechanics of plants and photosynthesis. Anyway thanks for stopping by and so far im very happy with how they are turning out... every leaf of every plant is absolutely perfect in color and shape.

Yes sir.. that first plant is El Alquimista (sp) i have one crystal storm and the rest are all critical mass. The plants in the middle are kinda an experiment(ones in little one gallon pots) those are malawi gold, muljane gold and Mozambique poison.

I use 100% hydroton. Yes i know its a bitch to wash and it has alot of issues.. but there is no match for the speed in which it drains.. it allows me to flood more frequently without fear of over watering, and my plants seem beyond happy with there situation. and also i like the fact i can wash it with a flushing agent and re-use it... soil is kinda hard to get where im at because its freezing temps here 6 months out of the year. so hydro is the only way to go. Plus from my experience both in labs and personal garden there is no match for hydro vs soil... soil doesnt hold a candle.

i flush new water every week.. and replace all the nuets... some people dont find that necessary, as flushing 55 gallons of water and replacing the nuets is kinda expensive for most people... but the product you get for doing things right, is worth far more then some ghetto bud, thats grown by a cheap ass.

And personally i find hydro much easier to control then soil. I also have a very large resevior (55gallons) so changes happen very slowly and im able to fix anything before it gets out of hand. You hear alot of people complaining about controlling the ph in hydro (5.5-5.8) and i could see how that would be true if you were running a small resivior like 10 gallons.. that shit would be flexing constantly and drive me crazy.

i see your point, i learned a bunch of shit on bucket grows, they get effected by particles alot of times can change your pH. and correct my if im mistaken, but isnt hydro like very sensitive toward reservoir temp? i swear ive heard people have plants die cause of too much change temp. i still like soil though, i use some nice compost and perlite and vermiculite but the perlites resting at the bottom so roots can get some air. they drain out in about 4 days given the humidity isnt super bad down here in fl.

I heat my res to 70 degrees.. and the res is outside my tent so it stays around room temp... getting a fish tank heater appropriate for your res size will definitely save you from aggravation as water temp is normally the last thing you would think is wrong cause so many of the symptoms of plant stress look the same.

thats what i was thinking really, hydro has many more aspects you must stay aware of or you could be ruin everything in a matter of hours if a heater goes out or a pump.

I have an extra pump in my closet.. cost me like 24 bucks... and im not to worried about the heater.. because the water stays room temp anyway.. which is close to 70ish... because its an auto flood and drain system i set the first flood to when i wake up every morning.. that way first thing i do is check on it to make sure it flooded.. then worst case scenario it goes the rest of the day without flooding before i notice.. which wont really hurt them at all. All my stuff is on auto timers and stuff, pretty much completely automated for me... ive left for a whole weekend without worrying about it. The most important thing for any grow is making sure you dont have light leaks... i run 18 hr lights right now so i dont have to worry about it to bad.. but later for flowering the last thing you want is for them to hermi on you because of light mix ups. thats my only paranoia is hermi plants.

i have an outdoor grow room and the temps are up and down here. but id wanna use hydro one day when its spring and it only changes like 2 degrees by night time. do you have any problems with humidity?

I actually own a dehumidifier mainly because the strain i grow is very prone to mold cause the buds get the size of two litter bottles. Im not running it right now because my humidity stays really low since the resevior isn't actually in the tent and i vent the tent 24/7. But yeah i could never grow outdoors here because the summer just isnt long enough to get a good grow in.
