Seedlings in bad shape.........left my partner to look after things

Hello All.....
This doesn't look good at all. I popped some beans that broke surface on the Oct 8th and had to leave for a few weeks and left someone to keep after them. They were germed in rapid rooters and transplanted into Berger OM6. Berger OM6 link . They have not been given any ferts. The only think I can think of is that they got heat stressed or they were using water from the sink that runs through a water softener. What would be the best next move. I was thinking I would have them take and mix up some 1/4 strength nutes in distilled water and run it thru until about twice the volume of water runs out the bottom.........Help me out here I have never had seedlings do this before any seedlings I have grown in the past were 5 times this big by now. These are under 6500k T5s. The humidity is pretty low but I had them put a humidifier in the room.

why do water softerners cause issues growing? i have one and my plants are doing great, and i don't use any nuts, only eggshells in the water.
Is it beause it removes too much and the water is too pure? im confused??

Distilled water is bad for plants, they need SOME of the minerals from water. Instead use spring water or balanced tap water.

april: if your plants are going fine don't worry about it, it's mostly a preference thing, but plant seem to not like overly soft water.

Thanks Fuzzbutter( luv the name lol) is there something simple i can add? i've stayed away from nuts because its my first indoor grow (well i only grew one outside thise year) so really my first time, and i don't wanna hurt my babies. I'm thinking molasses? i do have an organic fertilizer but i'm not sure how much to give, i tried a feeding a few weeks back and a leaf (buttom) got a little brown so i stopped. Maybe i should reduce and try again

The OM6 link you provided says that the soil has pelletized fertilizer in it. It does not list what is in the fertilizer. I bet with heavy watering it could be dissolving the pellets too quickly. They look burnt. I would just start new ones, as it may take longer to wait for those to come back around.

softeners use salt to soften the water. High salt is not good for plants. Not sure if it changes the ph either.

I use tap water or bottle water.
Tap water will save some money though. I just boil it and then bottle it. Boiling will kill anything that "may" be living in it, but then letting it sit for a day or 2 the chlorine will leave the water. They look nute burnt to me. What's the temp's and how much do you water them?

Thanks......I am not there at the moment and won't be back for a few weeks, and don't have any new beans. I would still probably be ahead by trying to get these straighten out. The main problem was starting them and leaving, thats on me. I was just trying to get things moving so I could take clones when I got back. The OM06 can be ordered with different ferts or no ferts at all, I confirmed that there is no pelletized ferts or fert charge in the soil. I was taking a chance by leaving an trusting someone without experience to take care of them. They are going to flush with PH adjusted drinking water from the grocery store.

Jloi, temps are about 78-80 and they are only watered about every 2-3 days when the container lift feels light.

The water is well water so no chlorine or chloramine

I have always used Promix HP as well and the nursery locally didn't carry it and said that this is what the other growers in the area were using so I told them to go ahead and get it. I let too many variables get out of my control......and when I am growing I am a control freak, lol. DOH!!!! this is stressing me the fuck out, lol

I am going to order more seed as a backup plan.....I ordered from Attitude last time without a hitch but I see alot of "they were great first time but this time they fucked me" posts and was wondering if I should try dr chronic or something.......

I just wanted to give an update, got my babies straightened out........long distance. Thanks for the help, I think they are about a week to 10 days behind where they could be but we didn't lose any and they look great.
