Seedlings in a DIY clone machine, Ph, tds, water spraying questions

In the link below is the exact clone machine that I have made. Now, my plan is to germ the seeds, once they pop put them in 1.5" rockwool and tuck those into the 2" netpots in this clone machine. What I dont really know is:

Should that water JUST be water? No nutes? Using GH flora series BTY
What PH should it be?
And how often would you think i should have it run? I was thinking around 15 mins a few times a day?
Its well water, and my buddy actually, just messing around, grew a pretty decent looking plant with just the water and nutes, never PH'd it. So I wonder if I would still want to add any Cal Mag..

Is it a must to have those humidity domes? Oh and also im using 4 2' T5 bulbs.

Sorry for all this at once, but I really appreciate the tips :leaf:

Aeroponics ayye. Nice.

What your gonna wanna do is just go ahead and put plain water.

No roots = no nutes. It would do more harm than good. Just go ahead and put your sprouts in and make sure your system makes those cubes moist but not soaked. During this stage it's just a matter of time before roots appear and by then they should be healthy enough hungry enough to start a low nutrient regime. Bubbles stonrs and a high water level are more effective for a germinator / cloner IMHO.

Also by using aero for a seed starter / cloner is a good idea becuase you'll only be using water. So your spray heads shouldnt clog at all. :)

Hell ya thanks man, Thats what I did. I just Ph'd to about 5.8 - 6.0 daily. And yes I have two like 12" airstones in there :) Heres a pic of this mornin actually I'm getting excited now! Got three Fruity Chronic Juice from Attitude and one bagseed I'm TOLD is from some bomb chronic.

Oh ya, I will be transporting to 5 gallon DWC buckets. Would you just NOT put any nutes in the clone machine at all? Just once they get roots throw em in the DWC and THEN start the low nutes?

There is absolutely no need to ph just water. Ph affects nutrient uptake via the roots, not water uptake.

No frickin way!?!?! Lol, that totally makes sense too, wow lol. Thanks for that dude!!! + rep

Any way you would be alright with me shooting you a message if I have some future questions?

What nutes you use?

Anytime.
i use botanicare pure blend pro and love it. Sweet tasting buds, stable ph, and return on cost is fantastic..

I have been kind of acquiring info from this guy, the same that I made the clone machine from.. He's got a pretty nice Gen Hydro feed sched which is what im using. Flora Series. It's confusing to me tho. Check it out once http://theweedscene.com/general-hydroponics-nutrients/ He's got the Gen Hydro Feeding sched week by week, plus the chart we've all seen. Then he's got the "Phasic Schedule" What would you follow? Or, do you know where I could track down a better (more detailed0 sched? The more details the better for me. But in the "Phasic Schedule" He's got Day 1 seedlings getting 2.5 ml of grow, micro, and bloom. Then goes to Day 7 which is then "Add: 12.5ml Flora Grow + 7.5ml Flora Micro + 2.5ml Flora Bloom Per Gallon & Top-off reservoir" my big question here is, it says "Add" , so whatever nutes are still in the res from day one, am I ADDING all those nutes above here, then filling the rest with water to the "fill line" ?? or am I emptying the res, putting fresh water in and THEN adding those Day 7 nutes? Do you PH before putting nutes in? or after? And doesn't TDS come into play somewhere? I grew one run in soil before.. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS HELPS ME DUDE, THANK YOU!!!! :leaf:

I wont even go there on nutes i know nothing about. As for how to mix a res it is always in this order: water, nutes, additives, then adjust ph. On my thread, my 3 stages of flower, i have a very good and easy to follow recipe and schedule that many others have had great success with.

Well I'm at page 7 of your thread, lot of good info :) Is this where your recipie is at that your telling me about?
MAN i wish you used Gen Hydro lol!

So, looking at your Veg nutes,
"super recipe for veg using botanicare pro( per gallon of water, in ml)
pbp grow 8
lk 3
calmag 2
aquashield 6
silica blast 4
great white 2 scoops for 25gal
then flush with 150ml clearex for 24hrs before rotate to flower "

If you were doing DWC with this, would you feed them this much right when you move them from the cloner to your buckets? What would the PPM be around after adding all that? I tested the water I have, It comes out about 8-8.2 PH and about 240-245 PPM.

Oh, and is that the only time your would flush? That once before flush.
This is also on a 3 or 4 week veg cycle?

Ur the man... MAN! :leaf:

I flush between every res change. For dwc go about half strength, with roots constantly in nutes they need less. I try to stay below 600ppm in dwc.

Lol, i just read what i typed up there again.. Facepalm I meant that once before "flower" I'm sure you got it tho :)

So would your res changes be at each of those different nute adjustments on your thread? So Veg would basically stay with that same res the whole time (if vegging 3-4 weeks) THEN flush and change nutes. Then weeks one and two flower followed by flush and res change, ect.. ??

Obviously my res' being the 5 gal buckets (6inch net pots btw too) Getting just under 4gal of water in em.

PPM question.
I grew in soil before and never even checked PPM ever.
If you say you like to stay under 600ppm for DWC, first off thats just for veg correct?
Second, with my water being at about 240ppm, and you saying to be below 600ppm for veg, do you follow more of what "amounts" of nutrients a feeding chart gives? Or use, for example week 2 down there equal parts micro, bloom and a little more grow BUT use however small an amount so that it stays under 600ppm??? I hope that makes sense, lol

General Hydroponics Nutrient Feeding Schedule

WEEKLY FEEDING SCHEDULE:
Week 1 (rooted clones or 3 leaf-sets on seedlings) : 2.5 ml EACH-Flora Grow, Micro & Bloom
Week 2: 5ml Grow + 2.5ml Micro + 2.5ml Flora Bloom
ir

Week 3: 10ml Grow + 5ml Micro + 3ml Bloom
Week 4 until 12/12 : 12ml Grow + 6ml Micro + 3ml Bloom
Week 1 of 12/12 : 6ml Grow + 6mil Micro+10ml Bloom
Week 2 of 12/12: 3ml Grow + 7ml Miccro + 12ml Bloom
Week 3: 3ml Grow + 8ml Micro + 14ml Bloom
Week 4: 3ml Grow + 8ml Micro + 16ml Bloom
Week 5: 2..5 Grow + 7ml Micro + 18ml Bloom
Week 6: NO GROW + 6ml Micro + 20ml Bloom USE UNTIL FLUSH!
Flush 10-14 days before harvesting

Doing some more research. I realize what i asked you now is a lot of details lol Let me know if im in the right ball park here. You do put a little more or a little less respectively of whatever is needed as far as NPK and add the additives, but should equal about that 600ppm mark (for what we are talking about) ????

I told you already Im using well water. Is 240ppm and 8.2-8.4 PH bad? or would you go with RO over that? Does RO come out at like 0ppm?

Also I know you should add cal mag to RO, but would you add it to this well water?

Thanks Dude!!

I would try though well water, its not that bad. My tap is 110 and 7.2 and yes i include that in my total ppm. And the part about staying under 600 is in flower, i do my veg in an aero set up. If you are following a feeding chart i would start at 1/4-1/3 and check ppm.

In Aero, do you not "feed" the plants in veg?
And thats kind of what im tyring to find out would be best. To follow one of thier (gen hydro) feeding charts, or I was trying to find someone that, if they didnt follow it, what they did with success. Wishful thinking :) lol

Wold you give well water, mine for example, Cal Mag?

First time poster. Just got all the parts to build my own. One recommendation I'd like to make for other DIY people is to check restaurant supply places for bus tubs with lids (the ones used by, you guessed it, bus boys). This makes for an excellent box typically about 5-7 inches tall. I had to the toughest time locating a box that wasn't too big that would require quite so much water to fill. (I figured more water would cause me to use much more nutes to keep the ladies happy). Hope this helps someone else.
