Seedlings flopping and dying

I started 2 Super Silver Haze and 2 NYC Diesel at the same time. Both SSH got its first true leaves then both flopped over and died. The 2 NYCD took off and are doing great. Conditions are all the same. Started seeds in Jiffy plugs in humidity dome. Wein off humidity dome and transplant to 4" pots. SSH flops over right above the soil and kacks. Any ideas?

Thank you

Thanks for the input. Sorry no pics. 4' T5 Sun Blaster bulb 2" from tops and a fan across the tops. I have now moved the NYCD into the grow room with a 400W MHL.

Sounds like it could have been damping off, which can be caused by a number of bad fungi (including fusarium, botrytis) that like warm, humid conditions. Cannabis seeds really don't need a dome to germinate\grow and I wouldn't recommend using one, unless perhaps you live in a desert. Even then you would at least want to keep the vents open. Cuttings absolutely require a dome initially, but again ventilation should be introduced relatively quickly (after a few days).

Seeds are best started in media in a container at least 4" tall to accommodate the taproot (seed goes in about half inch deep). It just needs to be moist, dark and warm enough for the seed to want to sprout. It shouldn't be saturated\wet at all times as this and high humidity can certainly lead to premature death in this manner. Sometimes the seed doesn't even germinate, but keeling over at the soil line is the classical sign of damping off.

New seedling "flopitis" is a major killer of new sprouts. Here's how to avoid it - as soon as the seedcap has been shed it is time to prop her up. I use large toothpicks with attached pipecleaners. Remember - pipecleaners for growers are like duct tape for builders. Gotta have it. Push the t'pick w/attached p'cleaner so the t'pick parallels the stem. Bend the p'cleaner so that it surrounds the wobbly stem. Avoid wrapping the p'cleaner around nodes or growing points. Good luck, BigSteve.
