Seedlings (10 days old) in FFoF.. Nute burn? pics

Ok so I got some NL #5 seeds and germinated them in peat pellets. After I saw roots coming out I transplanted them in to 3gal containers with Fox Farms Ocean Forest. From what I've read now FFoF can be pretty 'hot' and not the best for seedlings.

I've got 1 or 2 (out of 8 )seedlings exhibiting some yellow starting on the new growth and expanding towards the tips.

Here's pics. Focus is on the middle seedling.

I'm using a 150w HPS about 30 inches from the tops of the seedlings. I don't think it would be a case of bleaching. Temps are steady at 73-77. I havent had a chance to PH my water but I know from previous grows my tap comes out at a nice 7.0. I'm getting some ph down and test strips soon.

Can anyone chime in with experience using FFoF on small plants? I just watered them thoroughly after the soil became almost bone dry. Maybe the soil got 'hot' when it dried out? Transplant shock? Input is greatly welcomed

I germ all my seeds in FFOF so IMHO, it's not the soil

HPS may be a bit too strong for them at this age, maybe try switching to cfl's during veg

doesnt look like nute burn to me, definitely ur plant will suffer some stress after transplanting. ur pots should never be bone dry; that adds to stress. plants r just like u, they don't want to be dehydrated from thirst or overbloated from too much water. they like an even feeding of water, just like u.

I love my Ocean Forest. I use nothing but. I have some small issues at time on days 7-14 of the veg cycle when they are about 8" tall. I get a little nute deficiency. i would just keep them moist (which by the way wont be hard, 3-5gallon pots hold water up to a week.) but make sure the root system(cause its only3" long, or the top of the pot) gets the water it needs. DONT OVERWATER THO, moist not saturated
NOW, PH YOUR WATER. this is a huge thing with this dirt (at least for me). I prefer a nice 6.3-6.8. I will post a helpful chart.
These babies are gonna take off. I would just give them water (ph'd water) for the next few watering. But when they get about 6" give them a soft dose of nutes. They require alot of the vital nutes you see on the chart at 6.5 ph level for soil (right side of chart).

As you can see the results from this dirt are fantastic. They enjoy it

Well I found my old Ph strips and the water here came out at 8.3.. yikes..

Then I went on to the cities website and they claim an average ph of 8.12.... Much different from my old house on the same water system. Interesting.

I still need to PH the runoff water.

If it is PH problems what would be some suggestions. Wait until the next watering? (could be over 5 days from now).. Or shall I flush with PHd water until I get a good runoff reading (since I just watered today it wont really be overwatering them). I'm hoping the soil has some buffering effect.

On another note. I'm waiting for UPS for the rest of my setup. I'm getting a 1000w HPS and was planning on using that hanging it 5 or 6 feet above the plants.

IMHO it doesnt look like bleaching from the light. It's not affecting any of the other bigger leaves, especially on the bigger plants that are in the middle of the light. Also, the light green area isnt transitioning to the white papery look i see when bleaching occurs.

I could just be over analyzing it and this seedling just has lighter new growth colors..

Anywho im going to go out today and get some PH stuff so I at least know thats right

Thats kind of small for 10 days?:wall: When you put them in the 3 gallon pots did you water alot? That takes out all the air in the dirt and releases all the nutes that are already in it! I've had the same problems! Brown spots slow grow you name it. I put my babies in a 2 gallon pot till I find out what sex they are. Next time I'm just going to use maybe 8oz of water around the freshly planted babies! Don't saturate the dirt!!! I start my in plain sunshine mix 4 or Light Warrior in a 18 oz cup till their root bound in about a 8-10 days then they going in to ocean forest with just a little bit of water!!! I have posting about this https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/412002-would-you-go-ph.html but didn't get no reponse good luck!! tHESE ARE 7 days I wait till their root bound another 2 or 3 days. Their in LW and half are in sunshine mix 4! The light is a 400 w lumatek dimmed to 275 250 isn't enough and 400 is still to hot I wait till I put them in OF and have to sped out a litttle then change it up to 400w!
