Seedlinga light greenhouse question

I have germinated a seedling will put it under a cfl lamp (1-2 inches away),i will leave this light on for 24 hrs a day. Is this correct? When do I move out to the greenhouse? If the plant is used to 24hr light- wont there be a problem when it starts getting say 15 hrs light a day in greenhouse?thank ya all theCaptain.

There shouldn’t be problem with changing the lighting from 24hr to 15 hr, I’d move the seedling to your grow house when it grows it first set of true leafs. careful with those cfls though, I know you’re suppose to have them really close but they can scorch a new seedling so keep that in mind good luck bro!

Yeah, I was really surprised to see classic light stress with CFL.

Main thing, Slow down. What CFL? 40w?

But, it is best to know about foot-candles or Lumen. Those are two ways to think about light stress.

I prefer foot-candles since that measures energy density at the leaf, after distance. Lumens is about the emitter's energy no distance.

So, what are we trying to do? Sunlight simulation right? So, what is the good light, in spring, not noon? Maybe 5000 foot-candles. It is 10K FC at 2pm in Summer sun. Not for seedlings of course.

So, look up in google, with your real watts of CFL and get the FC chart.

Find out where 5000 FC is and put the light that far away.

great thanks . Its a 23W CFL I have it a couple of inches from the seedling. I was surprised how quick it popped up; its a Skunk *1 Auto . I was away for a couple of days,planted the seed which had germinated in paper towels.And I came back and its like 5 inches high.! So I today started the cfl bulb on it.....
