seedling growing slow not sure why

my seedlings sprotted last friday and are barely 1.5 inches not sure if this norm cuz this is my first grow. i have a 400w mh about 8-10 inches above them and water them about every 2-3 days. i also noticed some browning on one. my temps are between 75-80 during the day and humidity is about 40%. please help me with this cuz im not readty to lose my little babies this soon.

Try raising the light a couple feet.

i raised it about 1.5 feet hopefully that works but i read that if you can tollerat the heat with your hand it should be ok unless that was for more mature plants.

shouldn't they be bigger though

your not giving it any ferts are you? In the last photo it looks burnt on the side.
That light is way to close, a foot and half or two. You should always start under fluorcents.
