Seedling/ CFL Question...Problem

I always try to search about things before posting but couldnt seem to locate any threads on this issue. I have 17 seedlings in 2 small trays. I just transplanted them into soil party cups and they are looking great. Now here is the problem:

I was talking to a friend tonight and he told me I have too many lights on them. I am running 2 Sun Blaze 2' 4 Bulbs. It stats 8000 lumens on each box and I have two of these lights over the girls. The lights are about 4 inches from the tops of the seedlings, the seedlings are 8 days old. One of my diesels, the biggest one to be exact got about 2" inches from the light and now the two first little pot leaves look like they are sagging on the end. Only one or two others look like this, the others look happy and straight.

So tonight I pulled two of the light bulbs out of each housing, so in total I have 4 bulbs total vs the 8. I also lifted the lights about 7 inches off the plants since I dont have stretching problem.

Are my babies ok?? :( This was my first grow and it was going to well. I didnt know there was such a thing as "too much" cfl because they run cool and werent hot over the girls. I feel so sad. Damnit.

if its sagging your probably over watering. 2' bulbs sounds like a fluorescent, if so id doubt theres too much light. post pics

Last watering was the day I put them in the cups and that was wed. The soil seems perfect, slightly dry on top and moist about an inch down, ill get some pics up. Give me a sec. Thanks for the help!!

Posted up some of each, first one is trouble leave, second is light distance pic and third is some good looking ones. As you can see the first ones that look odd on the ends, but then you can see some look great and strong. Just weird because the ones that are giving me issues were the bigger ones and seemed the strongest growers in the begining. Any help would be great guys, I would like to get is solved before it turns into more a problem.

Put those other bulbs back in the lights. Do you have good air circulation? The ballast of those lights can make a small area to hot. I would keep the lights about 4-6 inches away

Ok, I just took the lights out tonight and they are about were you said for height. So why would it get saggy like this? Just started today....

They look pretty good~
What kind of dirt you using?
I don't think you can have to
many cfl or flo's.! I just happen
to have some baby pic's too~
I use 4 20 watt flo's!

Ok, more info is needed. What kind of soil are you useing? Have you been feeding you seedlings? Have you been adjusting the PH of the water? Did you add anything to your soil?

One more thing. Most new growers kill their plants from loving them to death. When you think they need to be watered, wait a day. When you think they need to be fed for the first time, wait a week. (for soil)

Ok, let me give you full details.

I have, 10 super buds, 5 diesels and 1 Confitential Cheese in Roots Oraganic soil by Aurora. Nothing being added to soil or water and I know that people over do everything the first time, but I have been really good and often find myself having to just not sit in the tent with them to make sure they are ok.....haha. I have a RO water in my house. It comes out at 6.5 so I have been leaving it. I germed them all, put them in pellets were they and after 3-4 days they had lots of roots coming out so I put them in the soil P cups. They have been in soil since wed, havent had water since day of transplant when I watered soil. Also before I put them in the cups I made sure the pellets were slightly dry because I knew they would absorb water from the soil.

Forgot to add, I do have a fan on lowest setting about a foot away. It is just enough to move air over them without making them "move" and stress them out.

You want a little stem movement. this is good for the plant. If a little breeze will stress out plants, then all the plants of the world would be stressed and killing all of us.

LOL......true. I thought that it was good for them to move when the were farther along in the veg state. Thanks for all your help man, Ill get some better pics up of the less despressed ones. How often would you water in party cups? I was thinking about doing it Sunday which would be about 5 days. Temp in tent is between 74-83.

3-5 days between watering would work for most conditions. See one person might have to water every 3 days, while if you watered every 3 days it would kill them. Next time you water your plants pick them up and feel the weight. When you go to pick them up and they feel about 1/3 the weight water them. If you over water them it is a bitch sometimes to bring them back. But if you under water them. Pfft, it is a simple and fast fix. water them, and in 2-3 hours they will be right back in tip top health.

Left two of the lights out over night and raised the lights up to about 6-8 inches. The two trouble diesels seem to be recovering, maybe they are shocked from going intot the P cups?
