Seed that didn't come up...

I planted several seeds this year but none of them came up...

I cant figure out what I did wrong.

It is best to germinate them indoors then transplant them to outside.. when you germinate them indoors you control the conditions, also watch your weather if it is to cold they might freeze.

I spent time with them... I let them set in a wet paper towle seemed like for ever and they never started so i put them in the soil anyways,
But, to no avial...

Maybe the seeds were just duds

you might just have had a bad batch of seeds, I find when I get seeds I put them in a cup of water to see if they sink or float.. if they sink I continue on with those ones if they float then I toss them.

who did you get your seeds from ? did you order them online ?

I have heard that if you put your seeds in a hot pan they will "crack"if this happens,the seeds are good.

Is this true

I've never heard of that but i would assume that should you put your seeds in a hot pan you would destroy the embryo. Just stick with the float test.

Mind you the float test does only work for certain species of plants ( MJ being one of them), for anyone just interested in growing basically any plant, keep in mind that some plants use floating seeds as a method of dispersal while others simply have less dense or dry coats allowing them to float all the while being viable seeds.

But I digress...Float test good Hot pan Bad...

I agree with harvester putting them in a hot pan would be bad.
