Wow, Thanks Fdd!
Up until now I've been cloning/buying/sharing for stock. With that little tutorial I think you might have just pushed me into a Breeding kinda grower.

got a couple of branches with seed right now, was curious about how long they usually take to mature?

i've had them mature as early as 4 weeks. i have some on the vine right now that was seeded 5 weeks ago but the seeds are still green. looks like they need at least another week. i take a sample seed from the bottom. peel off the pod covering and see how it looks. it should be big brown and hard.

what does an unstable strain do? produce inconsistant results?

unstable strains produce inconsistent results, yes. you may see a variety of traits appear. you could grow out 10 seeds side-by-side and they could all be different. this could be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. as a breeder i like varieties. if i were growing for yield i would want more consistency. finish times can vary. basically it's the "unknown".

thanks fdd... this is my first breeding experiment, hope the hybrids are good!

Fdd....I have a question....

When you clip the sacks off the male and jar them before using...Do they open on their own in the jar or ar you breaking open the sack to access the pollen?

And can a q-tip be used in place of a paintbrush?

i keep the lid off the jar or dump them out to dry. after they are dry i sift them in a screen. using something flat and blunt to break the pods open. or you can just swirl the Q-tip around in the jar once dry and they will break open. i've plucked pods off the male and pinched them just above the female hairs and let the pollen fall on them also. :blsmoke:

How old are those plants when you flower? Those stems are super thick and aged looking.

Damned nice....forgot to add that.

they were vegging under floros for two months. due to the lower light levels they grew slow and thick.

Damn....maybe I'll give the fluros a try. Im a "lumenist" when it comes to lights....Its been HID or nothing....I may need to re-think things. Maybe moms/fluros would be a good fit for me.
