Seed or Clone?

I have been growing for a couple years now, and in this time have come across few strains that I would consider "elite". I grow from clone, 10$ donations to a local clinic hoping the strain is what it seems. I have been disappointed with many outcomes, and I am starting to think genetics is holding me back. Everyone in my area expects top grade or nothing, so I am wondering what do others think of growing from seed or clone. Also, if from clone is it a private source, or local clinic like myself.

Thanks

Most of the clones from the clubs are garbage. It wouldn't make sense for them to sell top-shelf cuts. You really have to know someone to get great genetics from a one.

I'd suggest ordering a bunch of seeds and popping them all at once, then choose your elite mother. You should pick a strain you really like and get as many seeds as possible to ensure one is a winner.

clones..
pro's..
usually when you get a clone, someone did all the work selecting the best pheno, so all you have to do is grow it out..
cuts some time from a grow, maybe a week or so..
some strains are only available in clone only, say the real deal exodus cheese and a few others..

cons..
you really never know if what you bought is what the seller says it is.. they could slap any name on a bagseed and sell it as the latest, greatest kush out, and you'd never be the wiser until about 4 or so months later when you grow it out..

bugs and powdery mildew are very common when buying clones.. it's hard to tell if you're getting clean clones or someone's nightmare..

seeds..
pro's..
you know exactly what genetics you're getting so long as you buy the beans in a breeders pack from a reliable source..

seeds seem to be a bit more resiliant towards things like pm and bugs..

cons..
selection.. some breeders you will need to go through tons of beans to find that one keeper, where as in clones someone else has already done the hard work..
can add a bit of time over clones, maybe a week or so total for a complete grow over clones..
