Hi, Im looking to get a 600w ballast and was looking at getting a second hand one from a friend.... do they lose light after a while or is it a good idea? PLEASE help me on this one guys.

You can often find them for very cheap on ebay if you look. I just got 2 1000W HPS ballasts (just the transformer, cap, and ignitor--no enclosure, bulb, etc.) from a guy on ebay for $40 ~ £27.7 a pop. Mine came with the cap and ignitor wired, but they're so terribly simple to assemble, a complete novice could do it.

ok so diy ones are just as good then, where can I pick one up with case? Really needing it soon cause there getting to the last 4 weeks of flowering.
