Search Engine Operators

Hiya, not sure if this has been brought up before; I notice using Quotation marks as search refinement operators doesn't seem to work on RIU search engine, I don't know if they use a separate set of operators to search refined, I went to advanced search and also couldn't seem to find any "exact phrase" options to select, so I'm not sure if its possible at the moment to search a term as a whole word instead of two separate words if it has a space.

Example of the Target search "auto #1" to find auto strain specifically on Google to RIU forums:

If there is not a way to search exact phrases maybe that can be added for better searching capabilities, as I often resort to just googling, but I want to advocate use of search engine, just seems to be somewhat ineffective if you don't have the ability so search refined or exact terms, sorry for being a picky douche, thanks for your time and considerations and if there is a operator symbol for refined searches you can just drop it in reply, thanks.

^_^

Hmm, I was aware of how the general functions work, but I don't see any mention of search refinement abilities on phrases, perhaps search for auto #1 strain thread it will return all "auto" and "#1" keywords instead of just the phrase "auto #1" or "auto#1", but I will just use google, perhaps I'm missing something included in the faq thread, but it appears just a general overview of the search bar, appreciated though I'll stick to googs for now until I can figure out why it returns keywords as separate phrases when in quotation operators. not a big deal.

when i search i search for the thread i want, name as best as i can remember, thats how to use the search bar, perhaps im not understanding you well enough? why are you putting " " in your search? you do not need to do that

I see, yeah searching thread names is doo-able, as you can see by the results of first post googles search was multitudes more effective by searching auto #1 as a whole phrase, where if I search on RIU it gives me irrelevant threads, every thread with word auto, and #1 instead of JUST threads with auto #1 the whole phrase in sequence, understand what I was trying to say?

Sorry lol, I can explain why I was using "" Quotation marks, it lets you search exact phrases, so if i wanted to see ONLY threads with auto #1 or auto#1 (without a space), it would return threads with only the exact phrase, not like the search engine currently does where it shows all threads containing part of the keyword (auto), but not #1, so I get everythread with the word auto when searching particularly for auto #1 information/grows. When I googled with quotation marks on RIU as you can see in first post, the results gaves really relevant threads, containing the exact phrase and not every thread with auto..

Ah wells though, I guess in short I wanted to know how to search exact phrases but I don't think you can on this search engine, thanks for ur time though appreciate it. I think I'm just spoiled from googs search or something, RIU isnt that bad search, but its hard to find most of the relevant stuff half the time when it searches all threads for parts of keyword when separated by a space. I was just hoping there was a way to use "exact phrase" searches on this engine, if possible.
