SCROG/LST Switch to HPS?

Hey guys, I am going to start my second grow soon but im gathering all the stuff and info I need. This time around I am getting a legit water pH tester instead of the cheap soil tester, Cal-mag, pH up and down and more of the FF nutes I have.

Question: Should I switch from 390 actual watts CFL (15, 26watters) to 250 HPS? 300? 400? I will be doing SCROG and/or LST and need to know if I should switch to the HPS. I want denser nugs, but I am not too sure what penetration I would expect this time around with the CFLs.

I could be wrong but it's my understanding that you can't give too much light you can only create too much heat for the plant? put up a big light and have your CFL's around for supplimental light? that's what I did, I got my 125W CFL for side light and my 1000w for canopy light

well half of this idea is to save some $ on energy. When doing SCROG, is the penetration with HPS that needed over CFL? Were gunna lollipop so there shouldnt be much to deal with.
