Scrog about 6 colas per plant

Guys, I'm about to do a second grow and want to use a scrog net to separate the colas and make sure they grow evenly and get the same amount of light.

I don't have much space, so want to grow maybe 4 plants and would be happy say with 6 large colas from each.

Silly question - how many times should I top the plant?

Probably a few times grown from seed. You'll need a longer veg time I think. Keep the canopy even, there's probably youtube vids on scrogs I bet. Sorry I'm not that helpful.

The idea of a scrog is to create a lot of colas per plant. Even if you don't top at all and lst to keep the colas even - the lower growth tips will thrive and grow to create more colas. I top twice and end up with between 20-30 colas per plant - I veg for 5 weeks. The pic is one plant at 3 weeks from flip, the other is same plant 6 weeks from flip.

Mick, thanks for the reply mate. That looks beautiful. What size is that scrog net for the single plant?

So for scrog do you definitely need to LST?

I thought the basic idea was to grow the plant quite big, then flatten out the colas pulling them through the different nets (longest ones at the back, shortest in the middle) so they were all even height, then flick to 12/12. Meaning they all grow up the same height getting even light. You also remove unwanted lower colas that won't fit in the net, so energy is directed to the upper ones. Is that right?

I want mine to look like yours.

The net itself is a 4x4 - I usually grow 4 plants which gives each plant with 2x2 area - with 49 openings in the net per 1/4 area. This time I used regular seeds and 2 out the 4 were males, so they were obviously pulled. Most people don't do an actual scrog - they end up doing nothing but a support trellis at best. The start of the scrog is to lst at first to get the plant growing horizontally and spreading out. I top twice and lst - usually by the 5th week or so I place the scrog net 8" above the top of the pots. As they grow up through the openings 3"-4" or so you pull it back through and move it to the next opening (tucking) until it grows up again. I keep tucking until the end of the 2nd week of flower and end up with a lot of nice colas per plant. I scrog because it increases yield, other people do it because of height restrictions to keep them low. Yes all growth under the net is removed - it does direct energy to the rest of the plant as well as allowing air flow to prevent mold.

OK Great. Thanks for the advise. I'll work on LST and spreading it out. I have some height restriction as well, so it will work great.
