Yeah, ruderalis is russian ditch weed crossed so less watching and thinking is involved. Russians don't smoke it. Why are you?
Good point. There's a big rift between the photoperiod growers and the auto flower growers -especially around here. But most of us old guys can't be bothered with that stuff. Like I said, auto flower weed wasn't around when I was smoking landrace strains in the 70's. I don't know when they first appeared on the scene, but there's probably a whole generation of people who actually consider auto flower weed the way I used to consider landrace weed. Unfortunately, the younger folks have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to weed because they simply weren't alive when it was around. To each their own, I guess, but yeah there's no interest in auto flowers for me -growing or smoking.

There's probably exceptions, but I think most people who want to grow weed that takes less watching and thinking, are likely people who aren't connoisseurs, anyway. Growing photoperiod weed is fun and easy enough to do without someone trying to make it easier. Growing weed gets easier the more you grow it and the more you think about it, not visa-versa.

I used to be all about the Indica strains, but I’m now becoming more of a fan of the sativas. Some of them even work better for me for sleep because I’m so fucking relaxed. Took me half a year of veg/flowering but Ace Seeds Golden Tiger is a wonderful trippy if overdone but motivational in low amounts. Gonna clean my tent hopefully tomorrow and get my outdoor gals started and my tent plants going too. Going all Ace Seed Sativa for the tent in Malawi, Killer A5 Haze, Golden Tiger x Panama, and Golden Tiger again. Should be a great Xmas present when they’re done.

The idea that photo-period growth is more natural and would yield a better bud makes sense to me. For me the auto-flower is just away to minimize my exposure to the flower oppressive authorities where I live. Thus the speed not the ease is why I grow that way.
But as to nature of the buds, I enjoy the sativa/indica mixed strains the most.
