Does this mean that my soil hast too much nute in it? When the drainage dries it looks gold or rusty on the plastc lids... Any thoughts?

Yea this is second grow, and I'm still fighting, yellowing leaves, and spotting... I'm fixing to go back and read "How to Grow" again...I think I'm failing at watering and feeding...
try flushing your soil when it's time to water by watering heavily, slowly with up to three times the volume of soil over a period of an hour or so.
That's usually a quick fix.

I've heard mixed reviews about that. I wish I could know where my nutes in the soil were at...

I use General Hydroponics and swear all the nutes are the same, that disagreement is for elsewhere.
The residue left after the water dries is mineral salt. This is what builds up around the plant roots and needs to be flushed occasionally. There should be SOME residue left, otherwise it is plain water and the plant is not eating.
But mostly the plant needs light and a little water, the nutes are supplements for the CO2 the plants takes from the air to grow with.
Growing regular pot in a bucket and watering regular is a low ppm system. The package directions can just about be cut in half. Accelerated growth systems like aeroponics can use the extra nutes due to the rapid growth rates already present. More nutes in a standard system does not speed growth.

really ? I've never heard any negative comments on flushing to fix "hot" soil. Maybe you mean flushing before harvesting.
You can buy meters for nutrient levels, total dissolved solids AKA TDS is what your after.
I've got by without any, I just flush my soil every watering and feed at 1/4 strength after every watering.

cool...so a good organic soil/perlite mix and tap water after a couple days sitting in buckt is the way to go? lay off the nutes for a while?

there are a lot of ppl who say that is "over watering" not flushing. If you do a search and pretend to not know anything about it, you'll see that it is hard to decide who is right
nope no need to but if it's organic you don't need much anyways.lay off the nutes for a while?
not gonna argue with you on that flushing thing.... take it or leave it.

I use rockwool and fill the tray to overflow, water running off a top corner for fifteen seconds three times a day. Those plants are getting completely flushed three times a day.
Context is everything.
I had a dirt plant gifted to me. I spent four weeks just trying to kill it with water and nutes. And dirt holds so much water the flushing almost drowned it completely, a second flushing would have. MAJOR droop.
Folks who grow in one media but not another will swear by the one they know.
Then we have two folks butting heads and both of them are correct for the context they grow in.
If the plant has a bud on top that can be smoked it was grown correctly. That is a period at the end of the sentence.
My discussion is always about making that bud a personal best every grow.
I've been 13 years growing and I just had a personal best bud in July this year. Always room to make good better.

All my babies have ICY buds that can be smoked right now!! I'm very proud of this bud selection...I just want to get my fan leaves more stable...buds and bud leaves are healthy looking and very resinous...just fan leaves look like crap.

What you need to do is "leech" the soil by using a large quantity of water to clear built up nutrient salts which can burn your plant or cause pH issues in your root zone.
However it is vital to give a light feeding afterwards so you don't starve your plants.
Preharvest flushing is for toilets tho
