Royal Queen #1 and Power Plant (first grow ever)

Hello rollitup! This is my first grow ever.

I will be growing in Silverbox 60x60x150cm using following T-neon lamps:
Vegetative - 2 x 55W (6500k) TCL (secret jardin bulbs)
Flowering - 2 x 75W (2700k) TCL (mammoth t-neon with ballast)

Air intake 125mm ventilator.
For air circulation i use Garden high pro 25cm fan.

Pots - Smart Pot ( 19,3- 15,2 - 11,6 ) liter (1 plant will be kept as bonsai or potted if needed)
Seeds - 2x Royal Queen #1 (Fem)
2x Power Plant (Fem)

Soil - Growtecc coco x perlite mix (70-30%)

As you can see i have 2 problems:
On seedling was a stuck shell so it developed a one leaf out of 2 but doing well.
PP#1 has a burned leaf it was my mistake of giving too much water with nutrient in a smal dosage but the other ones accepted first feeding well. I`m not going to feed them for 1 week from now only PH water with 5.6 - to 6.2

I spray the seedlings with ph water in random time 2-3 times a day.

I know the name of the PP#1 but the other ones i dont know who is who i lost the name sticks. PP is sativa and SPQ is 50/50 skunky mix. So i hope i will see the difference.
The damn bonsai plant is doing so well so i think on friday i will order more coco soil mix and another 11 liter smart pot.

I saw it said you fed those little babies some nutrient solution at week 1. From my personal experience in nutrient burning plants, I'd say nutrients should be introduced around the third week, but no earlier. Nutrient burn is one thing, but the last thing you want is nutrient lock-out which will stop the growth entirely.

And as previously stated, the aluminum foil had good intentions with reflecting light I understand, but the crinkles create heat concentrations and could burn your babies. That tent you have will do what it's meant to do with reflecting the light throughout your plant, no worries!

Spraying 2-3 times a day isn't something I've done before so I can't say whether or not that's a good idea. However, these plants love air and if you're continuously spraying with water, you're keeping the soil wet the whole time and not letting the roots breathe which could lead to problems down the road. I usually feed with water that's 20% of the volume of your container. (i.e. 5 gallon container should be fed 1 gallon of water each feeding). You should get about 30% of the water run-off that you put in, so if you put in 1 gallon (128 oz), your run-off should be around 40 oz.

Sorry to ramble, but I get carried away haha and I know these common issues can easily be avoided and help you grow a nice healthy plant. Hope it helps, good luck!

Have you ever been using Smart Pot ? They say it lets the air penetrate the pot and coco itself has very nice ventilation.

I gave them the 1/4 of dose for feeding only the bigger one had burn others acepted nicely. The next day i saw reaction of the plant , so i flushed it with ph water to rinse a little nutrients left in the soil. So now i will not going to feed them for 2 weeks.

It doesn't have to wait 2 weeks, just wait until the pot is very light if you can lift it. The soil will be notably dry. I usually stick my finger in the soil and if it's dry up to my first knuckle it's time to water.

I've never used a smart pot, but I know what they are. I just drill holes through my planter for more air.

Flushing is great to start fresh again, but you run the risk of drowning the plant so don't flush too much. Only when you run into problems or before harvesting.

I would have to disagree on waiting until coco gets dry. coco is not like soil and as such you should keep it more like a hydro grow. letting it get dry leads to all sorts of issues, the main one being lockout. I first started with letting my coco getting dry and lockout issues were all over the place (salts buildup).

Since you are using coco, perlite and smart pots then keep them wet. Even when dumping as much water in as you can, coco will always hold 30% air. This is why coco rocks to grow in. I always go for a 10% runoff. In the first few weeks I water every few days until the first set of leaves come up. From there I give a very light nute feed. By the time I have hit week 3 I am feeding them every day and going for the 10% runoff every day. In flower start feeding 2 times a day and you will see even more growth. Don't think coco is soil and everything will improve.

One thing that has helped me alot (and I use coco based nutes) is always adding in Epsom salts. use about 1 teaspoon per gallon of water. Get a glass of hot water and dissolve it there before adding it to the water as the salt don't break down very well in cold water. I add epson salts right from the start. PLants also veg better at a ph value of 6 and then in flower around 5.8 .... then again if you are using tap water like me then if the range is between 5.7 and 6.1 ... I water (I'm not that anal). If the leaf end does a hook on it then you have been adding too many E salts. From there hold back a few waters before adding it in again.

I've never used coco, only soil. I was recommending for soil, so if he's used coco before I'd go with TickTackToe's judgment on a coco medium.

Yep i have chosen the coco and perlite mix because i have two GHE Waterfarms but i decided not to use them with clay pebbles, but instead to grow in smartpots. So waterfarms will be aside until the next grow with LED. I have noticed that the coco gets like 50/50 wet and dry next day after light watering. The plants seems to love it in a medium humidity with the spraying. will take the pictures in 2 days.

I have managed to find the coco chips and decided to put the RQ #1 to a Waterfarm so now i have PP in 19,5 liter smart pot and RQ#1 in 12 liter waterfarm. I want to see the difference in size next to the 15 and 11 smart pots.

Maybe someone can hare some wisdom about using coco chips in waterfarm?

I can say that the drainage is perfect and it stays kinda wet but not soaking.

The plant in the waterfarm has been taken away by my friend - he has more space for this girl

I decided to switch lamp position 24.07 - so the plants can recieve more light. And they liked it

1)The mutant plant i think its RQ#1 develeped herself a new two branches if im correct But shes doing okay. She becomes my personal favourite
2)PP is growing big clean sativa looking baby.
3)Second RQ#1 shows that she is doing good!

Lights are 18/4. Ventilation running non-stop. (Watered with 5 liter ph 5.9 for all of them on 25.07)

Watered today with 5,30 liters of ph.6.2 water with 1/4 strenght nutrients.

Today was a nice sunny weather, so i let the ladies stay outside of the growbox for whole day.

Sad to see that waterfarm leave. I had one and used it next to my drip system. The waterfarm outperformed it by far! I'm watching your journey and I wish you luck!

Yeah sad for me too, but standing next to the smartpots the waterfarm is so much bigger so i couldnt spread the light to all of the plants equally

My next grow i will put only 2 waterfarms inside...

Celow420? Can you share some experience in waterfarms?

1) When to change water in waterfarm?
2) Do you check ph in waterfarm daily? If yes, do you change the whole water in the container or just adjjust as it is?
3) When i used coco chips the water turned bright orange like it was mud... maybe i should wash it before use... any suggestions?

02.09.2015 - plants are 2 months from seed.

Everything is good, one of the ladies was successfully topped and doing good. I hawe played with LST for 1 week and learned how it works- will continue later. Other two i tryed to FIM. And guess what? one more buddy coming up its unknown free seed

Next watering is tommorow with some nutrients, Ph 6.2 - 5 liters for all of them ( not the new guy, he was watered) , plant in the biggest smartpot will recieve 2,5 liters other two ladies will recieve 1,25 liters.

Temperature in growbox - 25.9C
62% Moisture
Lights 18-6

One is topped and developing two new colas. When the new branch will grow complete,4 i will top the biggest one and FIM the mutant.

Watered today Ph 5.9 with 1/2 nutrients. 5 liter split. All of them are now topped and developing new stems.

Hello again, long time i didnt updated my grow journal.
Here are the updates:
1) I have lollipoped all 3 plants.
2) I did supercropping on the PP#1 one stem i have snapped too hard but it healed faster than the good one.
2) Next feeding i will be using is ---->
3) The flowering stage start date was 28-09-2015, so we are now 3 days in flowering.
4) Plants really enjoy 2x75W , 2700K lamps strange but this thing is producing less het than 2x55w With ballast.
