Ok boys and girls as I will do from time to time I like to run some comparison journals on products I use or am trying. So what I will be doing is now that i have some time is to do a bit of Nutrient comparison grows. Basically I like to try new lines of nutrients I come across in the ever eternal search for the best all around nutrients. I have shown some in the past like Fox Farm,Dutch Master,Miracle Grow, and some others. This time I I have a few new line ups that I'm excited to take a look at. Some I will have used and will just be comparing a new line against a familiar lineup. I have decided for this first round I will be putting Blue Planet Nutrients up against Humboldt Nutrients, not to be confused with Humboldt County's Own line of nutrients as we will get to them eventually. It will take a me a minute to get every set to go and actually in grow. I am now just getting my new mothers to the point they will give me some new clones. The first strain I will run with will be new for me to grow to. It's from Eva Seeds called Veneno , translate Poison or Venom, which is an 85% indica 15% sativa mix. She has won awards and has a great looking lineage. She was created by crossing Papas Candy x Monster .

The plan is to run the comparisons in the same setup maybe if I can using 2 exact same setup so I can do more comparisons and side by side shots. I'll be using a 4x8 tent setup with my own DIY 18 buckets Ebb n Gro setup. The buckets are 2 gallon buckets set to flood 4 times daily, 2 floods lights on 2 lights off. The lighting will be 2 600 watt Lumatek digital Dimmable ballasts and 1 400 watt Lumatek Dimmable digital ballast in between for total of 1600 watts. I will be using open reflectors in this setup along with CO2 injections during flower. The resivoir will be a 55 gallon drum filled with straight tap water maintained at a ph of 5.5 to no more then 5.8. I will keep an air stone going in the res with a 4 inch round bubble stone and a small 250GPH pump inside to just keep the solution moving and mixed. I will run 2 6 inch clip on fans in the tent moving the air around along with 2 standard box fans at either end keeping air under and through the canopy fresh. There will be one 6 inch inline fan bring fresh air into the tent running 24/7. I will have one carbon filter inside the tent scrubbing the air via a squirrel cage type fan .The buckets will be filled with hydroton balls and the clones will be cut and placed in 4x4 in rock wool cubes.

I will post up as I go images which until we get rolling may not be the most exciting i.e. mother plant shots, pics of clones, grow area setup, and images of the nutrient line ups and additives I will be using. Below are a few links to the nutrient makers sites and a link on the strain being used. I open the thread for thoughts and discussion as this goes. i will run 2 journals. this one will be more open for discussion the other will be more just to document the outcomes. I hope this helps people out on picking a nutrient that works for them and gives some helpful info on general growing along the way. If you have used and have real world use knowledge or tips for either of this lines please feel free and the same as to those who may have grow this strain share your thoughts and opinion on it. Sit back smoke em up and remember I will try to keep this as fair and equal as I can........Enjoy

Definitely going to have to watch this. I've been itching to try a new line of nutrients for a while I've been looking into blue planet myself. The master line seems a little pricey. Does it seem fairly concentrated? by the application guide it looks like it might be. Can't wait to see how things progress..

Sorry guys I stay pretty busy and was waiting on new mother plants to have enough babies for me to cut but here is some new stuff for this thread bare with as I have several grows going and getting these 2 ready to go full on.

Lets start by a few quick images. Here is a quick look at the Eva Seeds Veneom . I had bought one single fem seed from the tude while back and popped it and made 2 mothers from the new plant. I germed in basic paper towel in cd case method tap root was fully out in 3 days then I put the new sprout in some light seedling potting soil then when she was a week old about 6 inches tall into Miracle grow Moisture control for a good heavy nitro uptake.

This next pic just shows 2 Eva mothers, One Great white sahrk mom in the back middle and the taller plant is Pineapple Express all bought as single fem seed from the tude. These strains Ill use later along with my Blue Cheese and Gigabud I have mothers growing...later on these other strains..

Here is a bit of what I used for my clones. I took 45 clones from the 2 small mothers of the Eva Veneom. I use a simple rooting powder from Walmart works just fine always roots new clones. I placed them in simple 3x3 rockwool cubes with not hole precut just poke a wire in and then push the new clone cutting dipped in powder in. I soaked the cubes over night in a 5.0 ph water mixed with 1/2 strength Fox Farm Big bloom to promote rooting. I place the cubes in domed trays with heading pads under keeping the root zone around 74 F. Ill come back later and show the cutting freshly taken and when rooted.

The walmart cloning powder

Here are the rockwool cube packs I used...

When the grow is coming to an end I will be flushing all plants and I like to use the below shown Flushing product from General Hydroponics. I run it the last 7 days with fresh ph 5.5 water changed at after day 3 of the last 7 days.

Ok now lets take a look at the starting line ups here....First this will be the full Blue Planets Nutrients Elite line and self additives they have made. Its a nice line up which looks to have every thing your going to need and want in a nutrient line up. This is a 3 part base lineup with several additions to make your plants healthy and thriving. Here is a quick breakdown and what each is called. We will get more into the purpose and when to use each later in the thread...

Blue Planet Nutrients Elite Grow base

Blue Planet Nutrients Elite Micro Base

Blue Plant Nutrients Bloom Base

Blue Planet Nutrients Vita Blue Additive

Blue Planet Nutrients Liquid Blue Bloom Booster

Blue Planet Nutrients Early Bloomer

Blue Planet Nutrients Liquid Seaweed

Blue Planet Nutrients Root magic Mycorrhizae Powder

Now that we get our first look at each of the 2 lineups I will also be using 3 different additives I always add to any grow I do so I will be adding these 3 additives to both grows...I will be using some Fox farm Beastie Bloomz and Cha Ching along with my favorite, yet controversal to some, flower hardener Gravity from Humboldt County's Own

Humboldt County's Own Gravity

Now it will get a bit boring for a few days as we get our clones rooted and ready to go into the grow area. Iwill probably take some time to discuss these nutes and what they are and when to use them. i will also take sometime to go over the actual grow area setups as I have time, but for now I hope this keeps people interested and if you have comments or questions please feel free to partake here in the thread.

Thetawave....The nutrients seem to have a use ratio similar to other lines I have used based on the charts. As I said this will be my first full on grow with either of these 2 lineup. The Blue Planet Nutrients line up has a very very reasonable price range for the great variety they give you to control the garden needs. They do also offer 2 lineup versions to help both the less expirenced grower with simplicity and the more advanced growers needs to fin tune and adjust to perfection.. The Humboldt Nutrient line is much more expensive about 4 times the cost roughly and they too also multiply type line ups for your specific expirence and needs. I am using the top line up of both companies to match them fairly against each other in this trial.

I have not forgotten about this thread lol. I am having the longest time getting this new strain to root on these new clones usually i have roots in 5-7 days but this has been like 2 weeks and roots are slow. I know they are rooting as the cuttings stay in the cubes just not really breaking through. I will keep working on this added a bit more light and little foliage feed to see if we can convince these little ladies to get a move on. Always learn new things with new strains.

Ok figured Id pop back in on this and just make sure to keep it alive. Like I said I hit a new encounter with these clones taking such a slow root. that said news is getting better. i have roots on most of the Eva clones so hopefully in a few days we will be ready to get some veg going. I ll be taking more clones from the eva moms and try some other options as I'm not sure if maybe my clone powder wasn't right or what as Never taken more then my absolute max 12 days to root. I got impatient and went and grabbed some new Gel made locally by Simple Path and took about 24 cutting of my Pineapple express... I will also be doing some fem seed making of these planets and probably show that process in a different also if there's any interest in it. My moms are all big enough to give me cutting now so I can play again. I have one G-13 mommy, 1 Barneys Blue Cheese, 1 Gigabud mom, 2 Eva mommies and 1 Pineapple express mom..

So Ill dump a few shots of these basterd clones and the new ones which are about 3 days old with the different clone gel and see how they go. Then Ill come back in and either get into the grow area or more about what each nute is for and its make up...anyways hers a few shots....

One tray of the stubborn Eva Veneno Clones

Hers a tray of 18 Pineapple express clones.at 3 days since cut looking much better.

Here's a tray of leftover think 2 Pineapple and rest Eva Veneno I will use these left overs for fem seed breeding alter

This is just a shot of 2 trays darker green the Pineapple express the lighter is the Veneno

Ande here we have a quick shot of the mommy pile not in a nice clean area like I should as well its been snowing here since Nov 2013 and just now starting to warm and melt so shit happens when your inside 7 months lol

Lets see starting lower left is the Blue Cheese Then taller one above it the Giga Bud, then far left upper is Veneno, middle back is a G 13 then upfront right tallest is the Pineapple express and behind her is another Veneno

Very nice, cant wait to see how things go.. Those Veneno's still look like there in good shape, I'm sure as soon as they get some roots they'll snap right out of it. I still haven't switched, been running GH 3 part w/additives (mostly mpk derivatives) for a long time. I love how everything turns out, good yield, big pods, tons of trichs, but I know i could get more flavor out of it. I think I might give H&G a shot this time and see how it goes.

Once you start mixing stuff I would love to hear how the solutions balance out for you, ph vs ppm before you adjust it. Kinda a crazy, we do things very similarly. I take my cuts a lot like you and I also use a diy ebb and flo bucket setup, lol. Actually, I just redesigned my controller bucket a few weeks back, hoping it will give me years on end of trouble free service.

Ahhh its been awhile but Im back at it. From having a hell of a time getting new strains goings to some personal stuff been taking care of..anyways.. hers a bit of an update. i just got some pineapple express put in place instead of the original Veneno's as they rooted first even though they were taken much later. I figured out my issues were a bad heating pad and a that slowed everything. Anyways here we go again...

Below is a shot of 18 Pineapple express rooted and day 1 veg in my DIY ebb n gro buckets... I am running these under 3 lights 2 600 watt dimmables and 1 400 watt dimmable. Here in veg I have only the 2 600 watt lights on and dimmed to 350 each to get these vegging.

I am running these with the Blue Planet Nutrient line which will be my first go with the nutes. I like the easy of the mix so far real straight forward. The res is basically 55 gallons but another 5 gallons in the pots when primed so lets say its a 60 gallon system. I used the reccomended 5ml per gallon of the Grow, Micro, and Bloom mix for week 1 veg. I added the recommended 4ml per gallon of the Vitablue and the Liquid seaweed. I also added as their feeding chart suggests 1/2 tsp per gallon or the Root magic. I will be running the complete Elite Line of their nutrients the entire grow with a ph of 5.5.
