rosin at home

wondering what everyone is using to make their rosin. I've made a bit for the wife using parchment and a hair straightener. Returns seem poor and I usually end up with at least one burn.

Any good teks out there worth following? There is so much info out there it's hard to figure out which is good and which is garbage. What about equipment?

Thanks in advance!

You can get a product from a hair straightener, but you will never get yield. You need high pressure, I've seen it recommended around 600-800 PSI for hash presses and 1800 psi for flower presses. Making your own press is just a matter of lining up something commercial in decent shape, a compressor and the appropriate hot plates to attach to whatever you pick up. But you can buy prefab ones for a few grand. They're worth it IMO but it depends on how much product you have to run and how much you use concentrates. Yields are good if your flower is good generally. I see anywhere from 7% (some outdoor autoflowers a buddy grew) to 25% (best Sugar Punch run from my garden, usually not quite that high but it was tops).

This is the only unit I have seen run in person, http://supporttheroots.com/products/sasquash-rosin-press. Seems the best way to use these rosin presses is to run dry sift or bubble hash. Seems like a tonne of work.
The only real advantage is that no solvent ever touches your melds.
Squishing buds with my wife's hair straightener is my only experience in making rosin, not a huge fan of it, but in a pinch I will squish a dab or two.

It's me.

yes sasquatch looks good..i may try a much cheaper china one..

the hair straightener works well if you put it in a table vise..

and yes you will sooner or later wreck the hair flattener..but at 4$ at used stores its not a bad cheaper way..

some of the real old ones have metal plates that last longher than the ceramic

my ceramic one is cracked where it touvjhes the vise but the plates are still good

i have a 4$ metal Vidal Sassoon wanting me but its for when the latest one stops..and boy ca you crank em tight..

and there are a lot of used hair straighteners out there justv a waiting to be loved

i a rosin like way

Quality bubble hash will be fullmelt and give 100% return, lay it in parchment and press it.
