Rose Bush Coverup

-hey guys. I'm mostly a CFL/Flouro grower but am pondering whether or not to start an outdoor plot. I was wondering if this rose-bush would be a good cover. There is a nice 1 1/2 square feet of open ground in the middle of the bush which would be a nice area to sink a 5 gallon bucket into. The only problem is that it is on the west side of my house (only gets direct sunlight later in the day) and the rose bush is very dense, so it would block a lot of light. Also would the thorns be a problem? I would hate to put one of my babies outside and it get torn up. Thanks in advance.

It's hard to tell by the pictures.
How tall are the bushes?

-Bushes are about 6 feet tall, also i've been watching for the past few days and put out some fly paper to see what kinds of bug traffic this area had and i only caught a spider.

I'm a noob myself, BUT, I am an avid gardner. Roses grow leggy and leave alot of space at the bottom (which is why some interplant with other plants). Weed grows tall- sometimes 5-8 feet outside depending on conditions. I'd be careful with using the rosebush because the weed may quickly surpass the bush necessitating you to either move the weed or buy something large to plant in front yet again. I don't know what your hort zone is, but in many zones Sunflowers can be grown from seed- the large varieties grow 8-10 feet high and THAT would be an excellent cover.

This is a problem! How long your plants have direct solar light? Less of 5 hours is bad...

Just my thought, and i dont know..soo.

But from the look of that picture it looks like you live in a open area, without tooo many houses.
Im sure you wouldnt have a problem growing somewhere.

As far as the rose buses, i personally wouldnt do it.
You can find other plants that would blend in pretty well with mary.
