20181208_122558.jpg went to my local grow shop and got a good deal on a soil setup for my next grow.the guys at the shop were super helpful and gave me some good discounts so i could get what i needed.trying out this emerald mountain soil by roots organic. Its loaded with nutrients and microbiology. It has one thing in particular about this one i like, its the rhizophagus intradeces.i hear that works very well with the cannabis plant.

i got the soil, three 5gal fabric pots, a shit ton of worm castings, and a packet of stuff called kelp blast, all for 32 bucks.

Have you guys used this emerald mountain soil before? Pros? Cons? What did you think of it?

Beyond a good deal. The smart pots alone are usually 5-7$ apiece. No experience with your soil to offer. Just keep in mind with the soil, you don’t want a too much of a dry cycle. Gotta keep those microbes active and prevent the peat from getting hydrophobic. The smart pots breath really well so soil dehydration is prone to happening.

well its christmas early this year and i made another trip to the grow shop to get some goodies. First i picked the botnicare seaplex seaweed extract, then the diamond black humic acids. it has a whopping 6.0% humics in it as opposed to less that 1% in other products.Then to top feed i got the happy frog jump start. Its loaded with beneficial bacteria and fungi as well as a little n.p.k. to finish them off during flowering. I also got some big trays to put under my fabric pots, a trellis netting and a few plastic pots ill use for transplanting.got all this without breaking the bank.my clones will be rooted soon and we'll be getting this show on the road ;)20181218_120336.jpg

So here they are. My girl scout cookie clones. Theyre not looking so hot because they got mag deficiency a couple times during cloning, but the new growth is coming through ok.the three in cups will be for flowering and the one in the white pot will be the mother depending on how flowering goes.i brewed my first ever batch of compost tea to start this grow and it went great.20181221_081657.jpg 20181220_130308.jpg

Day 16 i trimmed the yellow leaves off the clones. Day 19 the girls are doing good.I trimmed some more dead yellow leaves off of them. I noticed that my soil is staying super wet. Im afraid of it going anerobic. What should i do about it? USER_SCOPED_TEMP_DATA_orca-image-193725849.jpeg_1545880322406.jpeg

less watering, smaller pots would help until the roots would fill out the pot then transplant. Until roots fill a pot less watering is best. Put more holes in the containers may help as they are.

Thats the thing, i havent watered them at all since transplanted 5 days ago...im thinking what if i raise them off the floor a little bit. Maybe that could bring a little warmer airflow around the pots?Or a heat mat maybe?

You flat need more perlite. Get some and add to the mix you haven't used yet and double what's already in the mix. "When it looks like there's too much, it's just right" Me.

For the cups, besides no water, some more holes in the bottom will not only provide more drainage but will also help get more oxygen to the soil/roots. *I* like a 3/16" sized hole for cups like that.

Roots (and most all bagged soil mixes), is notorious for not having adequate perlite/drainage in their bagged soils.
