ROOT TRIMMING

From the time they were in the cloners I would prune every other day to build up the root mass without any negative side effect at all.

In my hydrid uc/hpa system I would trim them only once they hit the waterline. The main mass line you can see is where I pruned them at about once a week or so for about three weeks and then stopped once it was as full as I wanted.

Now you can see that I have been letting them go for a week and are statting to grow longer roots as well.

The below pic is three days after the prior one.

Start small and see how your girls react. You only need to remove very little to force lateral growth. Make sure you sterilize your cutting equipment before use. Try to ensure you don't leave any cut roots behind or allow them to drop in your buckets.

I also run a sterile enviroment because at times an open ended root can allow pathogens to infect your roots. Just be careful is all I'm saying. There's always possible disadvantages along with the advantages of any decision made when growing.

Some great advice many thanks. We are not as advanced with the RDWC set ups in the UK as you lads are so this is a great help. There isn't really all that much information on the web regarding this subject either.
I suppose root trimming is a bit like defoliation, some do some don't. To me it makes sense and looking at the pics on this thread the proof is in the pudding.
