Root rot Pythium help

Hi. New to dwc. 2nd grow. First grow was a success. This second grow started with seeds ordered from the single single seed centre. Germinated seeds and transplant the 6 seedlings into one five gallon bucket. There are holes drilled in the bucket lid for the 6 rapid rooter plugs I had started the seeds in. It's been two weeks and they're not doing good. Res smells like an aquarium. Roots are Brown and smelly. Tried bleach and water soak to clean the rooter plugs and roots, tried h202 and also sodium hypoclorite pool shock mixed with water that a buddy hooked me up cuz that's how he sterilizes his res. The blesch, h202 and sodium hypoclorite did not work. Aquarium stench comes back every time I clean and sterlize everything and make a new res. What I'm adding in my res is ro water, then CaliMagic (calmag) from general hydroponics. Then GH Micro and Bloom after the calmag, then ph down if needed. Nothing else in my res. In my cupboard I have florakleen, floralicious plus, florablend vegan plant booster, and liquid koolbloom. I'm not using any of those bottles yet. I love in michigan where it's cold and snows allot. So I had my plants in the basement where it's really cold. Thought instead of constantly running a heater down there id bring the plants inside where it is cuz70 to 80 degrees which I believed started the root rot and stench. The aquarium stench has went down since I moved it back in the basement where it's 52 degrees ferenheit currently. How do I treat my infected roots, propely sterilize my equipment and then what to do to prevent it from happening again once I get rid of it? I think it's too cold to run Heisenberg tea in my grow environment. Please help. I put everything I had into my grow and I really need this to work.

You want your res temps around 64-68 degrees, especially if you're running a sterile res. Now I have never ran a sterile res before, but I know it's important to keep temps down.
Also, very important that NO light gets in the res. Fix any light leak issues otherwise your problem won't get better. If you can't keep temps down, maybe add beneficials and something like hydroguard, sm-90, or Heisenberg tea. No experience with bleach so sorry I can't help with that.

too cold. Decaying vegetation smells horrible. Prune off the dead root. keep temps in proper ranges. make sure you have good oxygen levels at the root zone. Wash rez with the bleach solution and rinse well. USE TAP WATER it has chlorine that keeps rez clean. Pray

Root rot is easy

Drop your feed to a lower level

Rinse roots in hydrogenperoxide and water

Then rinse again with plain water to get rid of the hydrogern peroxide.

Try to clean your setup if you can.

Put plants back in with a lower ppm not much but lower then the last feed strength.

Add hydroguard and youll be good in a week or so.

My res is warm 68-73 and i get by with hydrogaurd.

But the recommended temps for roots are 65 to 70 .

Good luck :)

You could get a small aquarium heater or just add a bucket of warm water and see if the water temp stays stable. Then you can run Tea.

Or if you go the Sterile route, just follow what Cold said!

I've read a lot of good about Hydrogaurd. I may try it next run myself and as a preventative.

Thanks all for the replies and help. I have picked up some 34% hydrogen peroxide which I followed the instructions on the bottle and rinsed my rooter plugs in them. Let the plants chill for a day in the h202 bucket. Next day I changed the res with a new clean one, added CaliMagic, then GH Micro, then grow, then bloom, then hydroguard. My plants went from a dying stage to perking up and shooting new white roots out which is what I want. I picked up some physan 20 to extremely clean everything of bacteria and fungi in my grow room. I also got some ancient Forrest soil, the only thing I need left to brew tea is zho powder or Mycogrow soluble or great white mycro, then the unsulfered mollases and I'll be able to brew my own tea. I think I shall save the tea until flower when my buckets get warmer from the 1000 watt light verses the t5s barely heat anything up in my cool basement. Things are looking up though already. Thanks everyone
