i just dont get it! i am experienced at this kind of... i have been doing this for 5 years, and i just dont understand how to get my roots bigger! they seem like they sit in the pot and BARELY do anything. where the plant will grow though! i want the roots to dig down but i cant seem to get them to fill the pot any ideas or tips?!

i use a 400 hps to flower and a 2' 4 bulb HOF along with some extra side lights just to fill the area with lumens. do i need more heat that the HOF can do? my plants from clone take about 3 4 months until they are REALLY readt to bud. another thing is that they are clones, my seed plants always seem to fill the pot, is it my cloning tech? or do clones take longer? anything that would help is great!

whats medium do you use? i heard the best analogie to growing styles, growing in soil is like sticking your head in dirt, you cant breathe, neither can the roots, perhaps if u use soil its not aerated with enough plite, or its too clayish and hard

thanks man, good thought cuz i just switched dirt to a new kind and i tried to cut out the perlite (i t "contains" perlite) but not much. i just dont have room for hydro :-( i have alot of family over and it goes down when it needs to (every other month or so) but also i hear its very tough..........any thoughts?

its always better to add plite to the mix no matter how much comes in it, its only good for better drainage, most people put up to 30%plite , my preference i use fox farms soil, its really strong stuff and burns my tips badly, i go 50/50 mix. oxygen is the name of the game, thats why many issues arise when we over water, more plite in the mix along with allowing the soil mix to dry between waterings, the more oxygen is allowed into the root zone...this is big and not spoken about in those terms in this fashion

as for the hydro, you can get an 18gallon rubbermaid tote and do 4 plants in it and take it anywhere u want, that size for instance is like 16"x22", i use one to clone and i love it

roots grow in search of watter , try leting your soil get a little bit dryer in between waterings and see how that works
