root pest control

Hello all, I am curious to know what can be added to soil to prevent pest from living in the soil and eating the roots? If that's even a issue when growing outdoors.I will be spraying the plant with azamax but I want the root base healthy and bug free as well.I'll be using fox farm ocean forest growing sour diesel in central Cali

I haven't had any problem with root pests outdoors. Indoors I have and used imidacloprine. Just find something with that in it. For leafs can usually take care of about anything with neem oil.
