Root deepness question

The general rule in most of the FAQ's is one gallon per foot. I am anxious to see some responses here. I have about 48 inches of grow room and dont want to use a 4 gallong bucket.

At what height are you planning on switching to 12 / 12

I have an 8 inch pot i plan on growing a nice plant between 2-3 feet tall. How deep do you think the roots will be?

8 Inch pot should be fine for that height, but you'll make life easier for yourself (in terms of Nutrient deficiency problems) if you use a 10-12 inch pot or about 2-3 gallon one.

Bigger pot = more root growth = better yield = less nutrient problems as the pot holds more nutrients than a small one.
