root bound: is a little OK?

Hello all. I seem to remember reading on here once that it is actually good to make your plant a little root bound early on in vegging (and then transplant it to a bigger pot soon). Of course now I can't seem to find the thread I'm thinking of. Has anyone else heard of this idea? Is it a good idea or a bad idea? And finally, if it is a good idea, why on earth is a little early root bound beneficial? Thanks!

it makes the transplant easier because the root ball holds the soil together its not benificial just easier and less chance of breaking roots

I think it is a good idea to start out in smaller pots. Like nothing bigger then one gallon pots. I use Beer cups usually. This allows the plant to grow a nice strong root mass before you pot it, so it will have a nice base to hold up those heavy branches with all those buds. Plus it makes it easier to water, and control the condion the plant is under. Plus in a big deep pot, the roots will grow down, and not be all that great for holding the plant up right. This is just my thoughts on the matter. No real proof other then I do it this way.

Also, I use grow bags after the cups, So transplanting is always easy. The plants never even stress at all.
