Rockwool cubes into soil = large yeilds

I have a question. My friends work at a warehouse in Den. They say that they are starting plants in clone machines. Then transferring to 6x6 rockwool cubes.
Vegging in the rockwool cubes the entire time via hand watering. Then transplanting into 7 gallon soil (hp promix) pots for flowers. Has anyone heard of this or had good results? Apparently it works great and would be less work.
They are averaging 2 lbs a light and getting upwards of 3. This is combined with many other techniques nutes. I'm just wondering has anyone tried this. They explained to me they unwrap them, plant them and its basically good to go just make sure to check the cubes dryness and not just the soil.
This would truly be ideal for my friends set up and require much less work than going from clone machine-solo cups-1 gallon-5 gallon

yea should be fine, however you have to bear mind rockwool is an inert medium.....and soil is not and Imo diff roots are grown hydro compaired to soil.....so....i would still veg for a week or two before flip!!!

His plan is 4 parts.

1. Clone and initial transplant into cubes under T5 with a couple weeks of vegging in cubes
2. Couple weeks under 400w MH.
3. Transfer to final soil pots and vegging final stages under 1000w MH
4. Flower 1000w HPS
