Rockwool cubes instead of Hydroton pebbles?

Can i fill my net pots with rockwool cubes instead of hydroton for my dwc bubbler? Or will this create problems ??

I use the small cubes 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 and then put them in 5 or 6 inch net pots with small river rock,I dont use hydroton its to hard for me to get and the pebbles work just fine,I have never done it with just the rock wool but it may cause problems,it will not be sturdy enough to hold the plant in position in the pot and algae problems also.so I dont think it will work as well as hydroton or pebbles, this is just my opinion and some may use it but I stick with what is known to work. good luck

Hilly-Billy-Hydro or someone like that claimed they grew in all rockwool cubes/slabs. Im sure it'd work. Why does everyone have problems with getting hydroton? lolol

Think it works for a flood and drain table so ive been told... I don't think it is right for DWC though. All you need is something to hold the plants in place. So go with what snocat said. Or you could try marbles lol... I want to see someone do marbles!!!

Funny this thread came up...lol...I germinated seeds yesterday for my perpetual, and I ran out of hydroton and space in my tote/s that I start plants in. I have one extra seed in rockwool...

And I was at the dollar tree juss looking for some sorta quick solution instead of throwing my extra germinated seed in soil when I ran across these.....

And so while I was at the dollar tree, I picked those up, along with a 3/4 gallon container to try a little experiment on.....

Of course, as soon as the little seedling in there gets tall enough, I'm gonna add more and then cover it all with panda, because those little balls are SUPER clear, and I wanna block the light...I'm wondering if they're gonna break down half way through the grow, because eventually that seedling might end up in a 5 gallon DWC bucket...lol
